I first purchased curry goat and it was raw and chewy then came back to the chef and told him he replaced my order with curry chicken which was uncooked inside. He constantly complained about the people in the community and why he doesn't care to accommodate his customers. He said they're cheap and never want to pay.

Ordered Jerk Chicken very delicious however my husband who picked up the meal for me was given a partial piece of the drumstick "because the whole piece wouldn't fit in the container". RIDICULOUS!!!

Love their food but don’t order online as they don’t have access to ordering apps and can’t help with an order at all if anything goes wrong. You’ll end up paying a lot for quite a little bit and they won’t be able to refund you.

Other than this their food is amazing but compared to other places it’s very easy to lose money here and has happened to me many times over the years to the point where I just won’t be coming back. They have really great food though !!

I lived in the neighborhood for years and this was my go-to spot. I last visited in 2015 before I moving. I'd buy food and chat with a Senegalese woman and the owner, since both the owner and I are from the Islands. They were always welcoming and gave me great customer service.

I traveled a lot and would show the owner pics of all the places I visited. He encouraged me to visit Jamaica and so I did the next year after leaving NYC. I must return and show him the beautiful pictures that I have of his island.

My favorite dishes here were #1 Jerk chicken, #2 Curry chicken, and #3 Stew Chicken. Tonight, after watching a video of the gentrification occurring in Harlem, this place crossed my mind. I never got to give them reviews while I lived in the neighborhood so here it is. I'm glad to see this restaurant still stands amidst the changes. God bless this business.

100% authentic and delicious Jamaican food. Not a sit-down restaurant. This is a place that has enough room for you to order and the rest of the space is about creating the delicious food. Here's how you know an outstanding neighborhood spot: j*** chicken grill is doing the work right out front!!!The people who work there are friendly and the do take credit card.Don't sleep on this place! They will run out of dishes as it gets after 4pm because their curry goat, and oxtail is to *kill* for!!! You get about two cups of rice with your entrées and a decent portion of protein ( chicken, steak, goat, etc.) This food is made with pure Jamaican love.

This people ripped me off who pays $30 just for oxtail stew? I was so disappointed and unhappy. Who buys stew without rice? the Uber app where they list their items is very confusing and misleading I thought when a person orders oxtail it automatically comes with rice or rice and beans.. I wish there is another place around so I don’t ever have to go back $28 just for stew? Smh I will try my best not to go back.

This place USED to be REALLY GOOD...6/3/23 UPDATE !!! PLEASE BE AWARE!!! FALSE & DECEPTIVE ADVERTISING!!! When ordering jerk chicken from any apps, you will receive brown stew chicken, NOT JERK CHICKEN. Long story short- my family and I have been a loyal customer of HOT POT UNDER TREE and the Owner Patrick..(in person and through the apps) for over 10+ years. We have ALWAYS, ALWAYS ordered jerk chicken and received jerk chicken, (which is typically a seasoned smoked and grilled chicken, NEVER EVER a stewed chicken) until today’s order when we ordered on Ubereats and received brown stew chicken instead of jerk chicken. When we called the restaurant we were told that any orders of jerk chicken placed on any apps will be wet, saucy chicken which is actually brown stew chicken despite the fact that jerk chicken is dry. When we arrived at the establishment the owner was very ornery and upset that we came in to show the chicken we received through the app vs. the jerk chicken we were SUPPOSED to receive. He then perceived to tell us he refuses to lose money; and if we wanted the jerk chicken we can repurchase the meal item at half price, instead of giving us what was actually ordered. We ended up purchasing the jerk chicken at half price and gave away the stew chicken to a homeless person, ending a good friendship with the owner and losing a valuable customer. My recommendation is to never order from the establishment though the app. You will not know, what you’ll get.
