**Update I went in and was compensated with a cocktail. Their drinks are fantastic and Levi the server was really nice. Their pig trotters are too fatty for me, but I’d come back for the drinks and Levi’s service.I ordered the spicy pig trotters to go, hoping it’d be like jokbal the Korean version. No no no. This made me sick. I took a risk unable to find pictures of this dish online. Just saw they had a picture on seamless wouldn’t have ordered this is I saw it along with the review of others getting sick.

The owner Hui was doing door repair with a hammer, while I was eating. He released particles all over my food and in the air. These particles went into my lungs.Hui is a unintelligent, retarded man. A cow and ant are more evolved beings.

Very good. Vegan-friendly, recommend the homestyle tofu, mapo tofu and dry pot. Portions are on the filling side.Dietary restrictions: vegan friendly

Disappointed. Sesame noodles were dry and bland, had to add scallions at home. Mapur tofu had a strange flavor, almost soapy, did not taste like what you get in China under this name. Walnut shrimp over breaded and way over cooked. Home style tofu dish ok, not a stand out in the crowded NYC Chinese restaurant scene. Best dish was the pea shoots. Oh well. Can't comment on service since we picked up but front door staff person was very nice.

Ignore the negative reviews and just eat here! My husband and I were blown away with how quickly our food came out and the quality of food. We ordered dan dan noodles in peanut sauce and vinegar, crispy shredded beef, and dry pepper chicken, with a side of white rice and everything was SO good. We have been living in the neighborhood for the past 7 years but usually went to Chinatown for Chinese dinners and we both jokingly said we’ve been fools for doing that when we could have just eaten at Hui. We loved it here and can’t wait to come back and try their walnut shrimp. Oh and their happy hour deal is also a hidden gem.Run, wear your stretchy pants, and have one of the best Chinese meals of your life at Hui!

Surprise find specializing in Sichuan Chinese dishes! Naturally I was here for their Mapo tofu when I saw they offered it.The flavor of their take starts as a smoother, lighter umami (as opposed to those Mapo tofu dishes that hit the tongue heavier). But then you notice they still have the bean paste flavor, plus a creeping light numbing heat (the usual mala effect) begins to build as you eat. While this variation has a thicker oil rather than the thick sauce of other variants, it isn’t overly oily which me and my gut strongly appreciate. This is served in a porcelain-like container that seems to maintain heat well even if the aesthetic isn’t to my liking since it looks like Swiss cheese.A bowl of rice costs extra but I prefer it to complement the tofu each time. While my favorite flavor profile of mapo tofu in NYC probably belongs to Spicy Moon, I’d come here again for the tofu but also to try some of their other dishes like the classic Dan Dan noodles or their Peking duck! Also for any of you sea insect connoisseurs , I spotted a mapo LOBSTER dish on the menu! Which I can’t vouch for but was impressed to see since I can’t recall ever seeing that before.** Note: upon receiving my check I saw a “convenience fee” listed before I paid. The check does have the usual note about 3% fee for card payments but they seem to have proactively applied it, which isn’t my preference because I paid cash.

Nice authentic Chinese spot. Been doing takeout from here quite regularly and getting the cold spicy chicken and twice cooked pork belly each and every time. The food is delicious! The portions are good. And the cashier is very kind.

I started coming here when I discovered this restaurant in February 2023. It has become my go to Chinese restaurant whenever I’m in New York , which is often. I’ve waited a year before writing a review. They have a very friendly staff who are welcoming and always smiling. I love the whole snapper and the fried rice is the best I’ve had in the city. They also have great cocktails , especially the lychee martini All cocktails are $14. Can’t beat that anywhere in the city. The room is cozy with soft jazz playing. I have only come for the lunch but I definitely recommend for the food, drinks and great service. On a side note, I’ve noticed most of the patrons are Asians. That is always a good sign that the food is authentic. I read a review where the writer said she was hassled for a tip. I have been to the restaurant easily ten times in the last year and NEVER have been disappointed.

Wowowow the food here is delicious! We had the Husband and Wife's Delight (aka Fuqi Feipian or Couple's Delight) it is a popular dish in Sichuanese cuisine and boy did it deliver! Then we had the chicken dry pot (more spicy) and fish (less spicy but sour due to pickled vegetables). All very very good dishes.Heads up though it can be spicy if you're not used to Sichuanese cuisine. Talk to the waiters to bring down the heat.Restroom: Only one available and gender neutral.Service is great and fast (even during lunar new year!)

For the last few days, I walked by Hui Restaurant on 70th between Second and First Avenues and the place was always filled with customers. I decided that we should come for dinner and I’m glad we did. While Hui had lots a very spicy dishes, we chose carefully since I’m not wild about the items that have pictures of hot chili’s next to their descriptions. We started with an appetizer of cold noodles with sesame sauce. It wasn’t spicy but it was very flavorful! We ordered the whole fish steamed with ginger and scallions. It was FANTASTIC! Our waitress, who might also be one of the owners, not only deboned the bass, but proceeded to make sure that we got all the fish that was edible by constantly returning to assist us with this delicate process. I asked her what her name was and she jokingly said: Grade-A! We also ordered Zha Jiang Noodles. Every thing we ate was delicious and while we were pretty full, Grade-A recommended for dessert, a warm mochi ball, called Sesame Sticky Rice Ball. This was possibly one of the tastiest desserts I’ve ever eaten anywhere! While this evening was our first time dining at Hui, we will definitely be returning often!
