The absolute best ramen I’ve ever had. I have been to the original locations in Japan and the NYC location is authentic to that experience. The broth is out of this world nothing else compares. I also love being able to sit in a single seat and not converse with the server or person next to me lol. I will definitely come back again!

When I visited Japan, I couldn't get into this place because it was always too crowded, so I never imagined I would finally get to try it in New York! I went around 3 PM, and there wasn't much of a wait, so I was able to get in quickly. I'm sure the wait time got much longer after that as more customers arrived.
The ramen menu is a single item, and I ordered easily using the kiosk. The price here in New York felt nearly three times more expensive than in Japan, but I appreciated not having to tip or make unnecessary conversation, which made the experience very relaxed. The flavor was great! If you want to adjust the spice level or the richness of the broth, you should think carefully before placing your order.

We’ve had Ichiran ramen in Japan, and we were pleasantly surprised to find something similar in the States. The restaurant was very clean and the service was excellent. The ramen tasted authentic and rich. The only small downside is the egg—it’s just a plain boiled egg, not marinated. Overall, we really enjoyed it! 🍜

The perfect bowl in the coziest little booth. Ichiran was the perfect stop for a cold November evening.

The food and matcha beer are both pretty good, just expensive. The initial bowl comes out relatively speedily, but the noodle refill takes a ridiculously long amount of time. 30 minutes of waiting for one bowl of just noodles (no broth no toppings just noodles). That amount of dilly dallying is ridiculous from a place like this.

Learn how to boil an egg
Excellent noodles and broth. Unique format with individual stalls, great for solo travelers. Eggs come shell on which is very annoying.

Still One of the Best Ramen Experiences!
I went back to this ramen spot after a few years, and it’s just as amazing as I remembered! The ramen is rich, flavorful, and comforting — easily one of the best bowls you can find.
The setup here is really unique — there are 46 booths, and you get your own private space to fully enjoy your meal without distractions. It’s such a cool idea because you can focus on the taste and aroma, making it a true sensory experience. If you come with friends, you’ll be in the next booth, which still works out perfectly.
Be prepared though — this place is popular! There’s almost always a line, especially after 6 PM. I recommend getting there around 5 PM to avoid the wait. But honestly, even if you have to queue a bit, it’s 100% worth it.
Delicious food, great vibe, and a one-of-a-kind dining experience. I’ll definitely be back again! 🍜❤️

Finally I could try the famous ichiran ramen as in the USA they have the vegetarian option. Very good.

Got the Ramen Combo Set + Kaedama.
Disclaimer: I’ve visited Ichiran in HK, Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Fukuoka.
Initial impressions:
Egg was too runny, has the typical North American yellow yolk, vs the deep orange that you find in Japan. Tasted under-seasoned.
Noodles were consistently overcooked (ordered medium firm).
Chashu was pitifully small, and poorly sliced. But in recent years, Ichiran in Japan has also cut back on their Chashu portions due to inflation.
Almost everything worked the same, except there is no plumbed water dispenser in your booth, and the checkout machines are Square payments iPads.
People also take forever to order, and spend too much time in their stalls, contributing to slow turnover.
Is it an authentic Ichiran experience? Kind of. It’s more expensive, the lineup is long, and the food is less good
Visiting Ichiran in NYC feels a bit like nostalgia - it was better in my memory.

My first time at Ichiran did not disappoint! I went solo and found myself pleasantly surprised by the ordering process, the food, and the overall atmosphere. I really enjoyed the flavors and customization of my tonkatsu ramen, and found the individual booths a lovely experience that offered me privacy and enough space to enjoy my meal. While the pricing was a bit high ($23.95 for a Classic Tonkotsu Ramen with no additions), the meal was worth it and may have been reflective of how this is a no tipping establishment — I’m sure, and hope, they are paying their workers a livable wage. 10/10 would recommend a visit to Ichiran.
For my first timers, here’s a breakdown of what to expect. As soon as you enter, you order on the iPads on the counter. You have the option to customize your order seven different ways.
Once you order, you wait for the host to hand you your ticket, then wait in line to be seated. The host will then let you know when and where you can be seated by assigning you an individual booth number.
Once seated, a server will explain the Ichiran process and will bring your order to your booth when it’s ready! From there, enjoy.
Tips: Ichiran only offers individual booths so this place is not the best location for larger groups or those who want to socialize with many people! It is amazing for solo eaters though.
Note. Ichiran only offers pork bone broth and dashi (vegetarian) broth.

Fantastic ramen restaurant. I'm inexperienced in that world, but I really enjoyed the food and experience. Each table is at a divided counter. This is great for solo eaters, but not so good if you're wanting to chat with others.
I ordered the basic ramen bowl (don't remember what it was called) and it was delicious. Wouldn't change a thing.

Almost as good as the ones in Japan. The pork isn't quite right, but it's close.
