The pasta was hit or miss and the cannoli filling was subpar. The service was fair the environment cozy. It also felt too expensive for the quality.

Be careful of this place. The main server is a pushy dude always trying to upsell an very expensive glass of wine or bottled water or an expensive dessert. The dude also cancels your opentable reservation after you have dined in order to avoid paying the opentable booking fee. Really slimy.

Food was delicious and service was great. The owner Julio was very kind and sweet. I would definitely come back here.

The service was good. The ambiance was okay, but it wasn't anything special. The food was mediocre at best, and everything was definitely overpriced.

I was really surprised after all these good reviews I've read to try the food and be so disappointed. Did they make it out of a jar? Did they reheat last weeks takeout from Olive Garden? There's no way to know. All I know is I'm not going back.

What a cozy spot on the UES! The atmosphere is warm and inviting. Exactly what you want for an Italian place. The service was excellent. I requested if they could use their marsala preparation with chicken and they were so excited to try something a little different. Such a lovely experience. The fried zucchini was great as well. It was a nice, intimate spot to celebrate my friend's birthday.

Quintessential family owned restaurant vibe, filled with long time customers. Pasta was perfect. Our waiter was attentive but not over the top. My only criticism was that the freshness of the bread brought at the beginning of the meal was not as fresh as everything else. Small matter, only noticeable as everything else was so good.

This place was unbelievably good. I can't for the life of me figure out why, on a Tuesday at 8pm, I was the only person eating in the restaurant. Multiple delivery orders came in during the short time I was there, but a place this good should be full every night. I got the Chicken Francese w/ Spaghetti. It was un-believe-able. It was on their website menu but not the one in the restaurant, and the accommodated me anyway. I literally mopped the plate completely clean with the bread, something I'm not sure I've ever done. I was shameless. This was a true taste of Italy, and you could tell how much TLC went into making the dish. The two gentleman in there that helped me, one a server while the other seemed to be the owner and/or manager, were wonderful and attentive. I get I was the only patron in a smaller establishment, but you could tell how much the owner/manager truly cared and the pride he took in the food. If it's any consolation at all, I've used Yelp and other restaurant apps for years and this is the only review I've ever posted. I only wish I was from here so I could eat at this place regularly. 7 stars out of 5.

Il Carino is our go to anniversary, family meeting, random Tuesday dinner place but we had never been on Valentine's Day. The same quality good, service, and ambience we get normally was also there on the busiest day of the year. A homeless man came in the middle of the rush to demand cash from the staff. I overheard the manager offer him a meal if he came back after hours. The man wanted cash and proceeded to cause a scene. The manager was calm with the man and he left without harm to people or property. I highly recommend here for dinner any day of the week.

Came for the chicken Parm. Was a little bit disappointed when I didn’t see it on the menu. I asked and they said that they could make it for me. I got excited.I started the meal off with some minestrone soup. It was very good, although the portion size was pretty small. I liked the fine cut of the vegetables. Flavorful and rich broth. Then came the chicken Parmesan! It was served on a bed of spaghetti. I had a requested the spicy marinara sauce, that’s just the way I like it. I’m glad I requested this change this sauce because it was very good. The pasta was nice as well. However, I didn’t love the chicken Parm. The breading was soggy. That was a disappointment for me. Also, they brought over crushed red pepper but didn’t offer Parmesan cheese for the entree (although Parmesan cheese was offered for the soup, which I turned down). The vibe inside was nice. Dimly lit with a nostalgic feel. The checks were handwritten, which is a nice touch. The water was constantly refilled. They had availability on a busy night, probably 3/4 full. Extensive wine list, triple the food list. I asked for a glass of rose which cost me $22, which felt expensive, especially for the pour that I was given.
