We eat at Il Corso regularly, we live within walking distance. We love the food, the service and how completely consistent both are. We have never had a meal that was anything less than delicious, and the service is always just right. The avocado and artichoke salad is my favorite, and any friends we have join us always agree. And the cacio y pepe is the best I have ever eaten. We think Il Corso is one of the very best Italian restaurants in the city.
We had a reservation for 6:00, and did not get seated until 6:20. Felt rushed due to going to a show that night at 8. The staff was apologetic but did not do anything to help seat us quickly. Our server also did not acknowledge the wait and continued to draw out the experience. The food was delicious, but clouded by the poor service.
Wish I could give 3.5 Stars, but it’s definitely closer to 4 than 3. I might sound gauche, but I’m always a bit annoyed by a lack of bread at the table. However, the larger issue was the clear annoyance at us ordering still water, and not wanting to buy a bottle. They only came to refill once during the service, and once with the check. It was consistent with an overarching feel that we were seen as not spending a lot, and treated as secondary.
