Luigi and crew are the quintessential hosts of this fabulous local haute establishment. There is nothing not to love, but don't forget to order the meatballs too.

I am a professional chef of 15 years. From the second you walk in you are greeted by name and tended to throughout by discreet attentive staff. The atmosphere has several rooms to choose from that provide a different feeling as you enter and go through. Providing options of formality. I chose the back. Absolutely pleased with my decision. My wife and I plan to go back again and again. Of all the places we’ve been throughout the Burroughs, this has become she and I’s secret culinary getaway. I do not care for fluff reviews, but this is well earned. I write this over a week later on the train to work if that tells you anything. Cheers!Vegetarian options: Plenty:)

Elegant setting, quiet ambience, five star service. An oasis on the Upper Eastside. Extensive Italian menu worthy of the $$$ prices.

I cannot believe that I waited so long to try the "best italian food anywhere", Il Postino, until now. The food is so very outstanding! From the wonderful greeting by Maria - to our table in the main dining room - it was a such a wonderful experience. The staff goes above and beyond trying to make sure you get whatever you may need and fast! I found our spot to dine when eating well and being treated well counts! Il Postino is as good as it gets in New York. Don't hesitate. Love this place! You can eat at the bar, too!

My wife wanted a glass of red wine, asked to see the wine list, waiter said he had the perfect selection, no need to see the list. When the bill arrived the glass of wine was $42.50. Thought that was in poor taste for an experienced server.

This lovely restaurant is a Manhattan Gem. The food and presentation is memorable and the service is extremely attentive but non-fawning. I dine out regularly and I am partial to Italian cuisine and Postino is one of the top 5 in the City. I had an excellent table and I was able to observe the preparation of many dishes. The care and artistry that was taken with the preparation each plate was simply amazing. I look forward to returning soon.

The dinner at II Postino was excellent. I had not eaten there previously but I had passed by the restaurant a couple of times and noticed how lovely the restaurant interior looked. Thus, the appointments were no surprise but they are a good reason to dine there. The food was delicious and well presented as I expected but the service is the best I have encountered in NYC. I eat out several times a week and this is a big statement for me. Also, that terrific service is given seamlessly and without interruption to one's meal. If a diner is seeking excellent Italian fare, in a stunning physical environment with extremely attentive service then II Postino is for you. Also, I asked for a corner table and Maria award me Table 1 to a diner who was making his first Postino visit. G. Earls

The entire staff was attentive, professional and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. The food was delicious and superbly prepared. We had the artichoke antipasto, followed with a pasta with lobster sauce and shrimp, and then fillet mignon with Gorgonzola. Amazing! An incredibly delicious and authentic Italian restaurant! We will go back during our next trip to NYC.

The food is delicious but you must be careful. As soon as we sat down the waiter put out some mushrooms and beans on the table. He also asked if we wanted some cheese as if it was also on the house. We said yes and was charged $110 for the order the waiter kept offering us things like it was free then ordered an order of fried artichokes and we were brought 3 because there are only 2 per order and we were 6 people. But not everyone wanted to wanted. My husband saw the next table having a dessert and asked what is that and the waiter what it was and he said I will be bringing one for everybody (as like that's what they do). They brought 6 identical desserts which again most of us didn't even want and when asked who ordered this they said it's on the house. Of course again when the bill came we were charged $18 for each one. We argued with them and they agreed to remove 3 out of the 6. We left with such a bad taste. We go out a lot and to very nice restaurants. We were never taken advantage of the way we were at this restaurant.
