The food that I had here was just ok. The beef carpaccio was not good at all. The arugula to beef ratio was way off and it was served with this disgusting sauce that ruined the whole dish. Made it taste all sour. The bucatini was alright but it was rather ordinary. Nothing special there at all. The highlight of the meal was dessert — I highly recommend the flourless chocolate cake. It was sweet and flavorful.

When others say a restaurant is a 5 star usually consider it to be a matter of personal taste but this one……this restaurant tops all the other Italian eatery’s I’ve been!
The lasagna was tremendous!
The shrimp bisque was tremendous!
The simple fettuccini sans anything was tremendous!
The penne alla vodka was tremendous!
Carmen at the door was tremendous!
Our waiter whose name I didn’t catch was tremendous!
The flourless chocolate cake was sublime!
Thank you for this experience for our galantines trip.
I’m gonna go grab my husband and fly back to NYC just to come to dinner here!

I always wanted to come here and just give it a try. I lived in Italy, and I can say that their lasagna at Il Violino was to die for! The fettuccine alfredo was such an amazing experience to see the preparation in front of our table. The drinks were amazing as well. Tiny bit pricey, but it was worth it every single penny.
It is always pleasant here. I was grateful they were open during a snowstorm! The pasta fagiole and sauteed broccoli raabe hit the spot.
This is the first time I'd been to Il Violino. My friend and I were looking for a restaurant to have dinner before the opera. The location was perfect and the food was really delicious. We both had the Spaghetti Putanesca special and a side of broccoli rabe, which was cooked perfectly.
Their chicken parm used to be good and well worth it. Not anymore. $38 for a paper thin chicken cutlet with a small side of pasta. Highway robbery.

Dinner Monday night. Bread was not warm; Caesar salad comprised of lettuce and nothing else, just a little cheese and a few capers; Black truffle and mushroom risotto was bland; Seafood pasta was mostly just shrimp and clams. Seems this place is becoming victim to our hard economy, and cutting costs. The cappuccino was good.

Lovely meal pre-concert. It was a less crowded Monday night. Gracious service. I had the Black linguini shrimp special - It was exceptional. The sun dried tomatoes were delicious, perfect sauce with mushrooms. Friends had Pasta Pomodoro and Chicken Marsalla. They enjoyed both. I had not been here in years and will be back.
This was our second time here and everything was super great and not at all noisy. What a joy to have such good food and ambience.

Il Violino is a neighborhood gem, a short walk to Lincoln Center and AMC Theater. The minestrone is superb. Excellent pastas, salads and mains. Prompt service.
