It was a nice experience overall, the atmosphere was amazing, but the food was average. I expected much more… the server was very accommodating and helpful, however he lacked in knowledge of the food and wine… I don't think I would come back here.

We travelled all the way from Midtown South to Times Square looking for good Indian food, and decided to try India at Times Square. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing.
We ordered a Paneer curry and Butter Chicken — and believe me, both dishes tasted exactly the same. The only difference was whether the pieces were paneer or chicken. For the price you pay, the quantity was shockingly small. The only item that was actually good was the naan.
And now the worst part: an 18% service charge. When I asked the server why, she simply said “it’s a norm.” Paid USD 24 as a forceful tip. A tip is supposed to be a choice, but here it felt like we were forced to pay it. Total loot. Wont recommend.

The short answer? Best butter chicken, tandoori naan, and gulab jamun in Midtown Manhattan. Talk to Dave and his colleagues. With the invitation from the staff into a discussion of their food selection, I felt inclined to help make food -- without other obligation, I would have gladly fired the tandoor. Unfortunately, I was tasked with getting the hot and fresh order home to my family.
I have been around a bit. 34 states of this country, and 12 other countries. I think the team at India At Times Square team has eclipsed any competitors in the area.

Shows it's open till 12am but when we arrived at 11pm we were asked to order quickly as the kitchen was closing in 10 mins. Also only main course was available, no appetizers. Bar was already closed. Eating here only because we don't feel like walking again to another place. Not a good experience
