We walked up to the restaurant and I honestly thought It was run down. The neon light outside was off, their door was graffitied up (not in an artistic way), and there was no one inside.
When we stepped inside we thought maybe it was under construction, no, the interior was just that unappealing. No it wasn’t plain in a cozy, simple way. Only interior design was printed out paper images of a menu item and I was sat next to an exposed radiator.
Luckily my date was a good sport and we decided to give the place the benefit of the doubt, maybe the food was amazing. It was not. Paired with the lack of ambiance was their very overpriced food items and unpleasant cocktails. Small portioned beef sukiyaki, udon that didn’t leave an impression, and chicken nanban that was soaking wet for some reason.
Sadly disappointed. I hope a review like this pushes the restaurant to be better, or at least look better.
The servers were great though and whoever was on the aux had great taste in music.

I generally don't like Izakaya food that much but they're doing it excellently here. I got the chef's chosen menu for two. Had to get a double order of the addictive cabbage because it's so good. Also added a supplement of sashimi scallops the quality was excellent and you get like eight slices it's crazy.
Also got an order of agadashi tofu it was one of my favorites I've had in the city so comforting texturally masterful. And perfect flavor.
The grilled meat was excellent the sauce was perfect sticky sweet umami. Again nothing is too overpowering or improperly balance. Every flavor and tongue sensation has its place. Really like the chicken I usually don't even like fried chicken but they're chicken was so delectable. I think the only thing I would recommend is asked for another little wedge of lemon because it tastes so good with a citrus punch. Mushroom rice I definitely like better than the crab rice, I think it's a little bit lighter and that umami flavor that they developed with the mushrooms is so good. Rice texture is amazing. It's almost like al dente, so it's not like a mushy fried rice it's really Delicious and again texturely pleasing.
I was so pleased
Really loved the portion sizes of everything. It was a great meal for two but you could still add on.
I really like this place and I definitely wanna come back, it's pretty casual but not like rundown by any means. Good for a date but also good to go with friends or family or even alone. Very multipurpose and just delicious food.

Was packed when I went so maybe that had something to do with the quality. Fried smelt was good, tonkatsu was pretty dry, but the mentai udon was extremely hot so the sauce split. How do you have the audacity to bring out a dish where the sauce is split

Always good. Like a wonderful secret. I've not been to the other branches— this one is so good.
This is a small restaurant offering what feels like authentic Japanese food. The food is good, not great. The service is very nice.
This restaurant provides unparalleled value. The staff shows kindness, warmth, hospitality, and skill. I would return just for their dessert menu. This restaurant pairs romantic setting with attentive service. This spot has me wanting to come back right away.

Food is so good. Staff was so nice, helpful, and personable. Unfussy, casual atmosphere but welcoming and cool. Highly recommend over the other “big deal” spots with the same cuisine in this neighborhood— most of those places were hoppin when we walked around before/after; this spot was pretty empty when we were there (it was earlier in the evening on a Friday though, so makes sense), but its hole-in-the-wall-ness shouldn’t put you off compared to those other spots nearby that appear flashier or more accessible. Go here, no contest. A million out of ten. We’ll be back!

First time here and we had a great time. The sashimi was very fresh and good quality, which I would expect for the price. The pork belly was amazing and will probably be the reason I return in the future. Service was very nice and attentive. It doesn't look like much but it doesn't need to. Seems like a fun chill place. We were there pretty early on a week day so I would assume its a bit louder / more hectic at more peak drinking times.
A great place relax and enjoy top notch Japanese small dish with drinks.

Live right across the street from this restaurant and finally decided to give it a try.
The waitress said it would be a 30 minute wait. We waited more than 30 minutes outside and saw one couple who later seated before us.
By the time I saw a table was ready, I let the waitress know we had been waiting for over 30 minutes. There was no apology and no acknowledgement of my frustration. She also became defensive and slammed the menus and water on the table.
I am shocked to receive this type of treatment from a very casual place. It is obvious that the staff is untrained in hospitality and the establishment cares little about customer service.
If you are going to hire someone on a student visa, choose wisely, and choose someone with experience.

The very definition of MID. Female server was slow, clumsy and spilled stuff.
