I've been coming here for years and I'm disappointed to have to say I won't be coming back again. I can't justify eating at a place that serves $12 short rib skewers then feeds you skirt steak.

Super yummy food, especially loved grilled chicken thighs, veggies & kimchi & happy hour drinks were refreshing and unique. Cool location with edm music. Wait staff helped us order, which was great because our family with teens was new to this cuisine. Fun night out!

While Izakaya Toribar looks like a cozy spot, the food quality didn’t match the vibe.
Cocktails were overly sweet and flat. Most dishes — skewers, fried chicken — tasted like pre-made items, lacking freshness or real flavor. The chicken skin skewer was dry and greasy, with no charcoal aroma.
Loud music and fast-but-bland food made for a disappointing experience. We spent over $100 for three and left unsatisfied. Wouldn’t recommend for those looking for quality yakitori.

So good we went TWICE during our visit to NYC! We visited Japan six months ago and it's been hard to find quality yakitori since then. We were staying at a hotel around the block and stumbled in here - it was packed on a Friday night but they called us for our table in 3 min after telling us 20 min. Score!
The yakitori was PHENOMENAL and the best we've had since Japan. The thighs w/ scallion, meatball, breast, and skin were fantastic. Their karaage is sooo crispy and served classic with kewpie mayo + lemon. The bar is decorated nicely. We went back 2 days later right when it opened and got right in. Great attentive service each night. They warned us the yakitori might take a while during the busy night but it really didn't take long. 5 stars for Izakaya Toribar!!!!!

We had a great night here! A group of 10 of us went here after a show. We were able to make a reservation by emailing them. Very friendly service, a fun atmosphere and really tasty food!

had an interview here about a month ago, i thought it went well and everyone seemed super nice! I called a week after my interview and was unfortunately spoken to with an aggressive tone like i was a burden. Then was told i’ll get a call tmmr updating me on my application status but never got one.. honestly very disappointed by how unprofessional the staff is here!

This is our 5th visit and we enjoyed our previous visits. However after our most recent visit, this place is now on my blacklist and I will not be back nor will I ever recommend it to anyone. We encountered probably the same host/waitress that the other 1 star reviews mentioned. Super rude and bad attitude. Apparently the management/owner of this place has not fixed this issue for months as this person still works there. She even asked me to tell her how much I was gonna tip. I told her normally a restaurant run the card and I fill the tip on the receipt. She said they only do it for larger tabs - our bill for the four of us was over 400 so I am not sure what she meant by larger tabs. This is the few cases when you tip for 20% but felt like she should receive 0. In any case we will never return since there are many other options. To management: no I do not want to contact you for this. Good luck with your business.

All the snacks are delicious, but for some reason the main dish, the yakitori, isn't very tasty... The sauce was too sweet and the food was overcooked, so you could barely taste the flavor. It's a little small and noisy, but the atmosphere is good.
