I was Making a delivery to a nearby restaurant and I noticed Jennifers cafe . All I can say is WOW! . Great food. Chef makes you laugh and makes you feel like family . The lemonade and ice tea are great. Also ordered a crispy pork sandwich and it was delicious . Highly recommend.

This longtime East Village mainstay still delivers wonderful food at the lowest prices. The grill is on very early serving BECs with a smile to locals on their way to work and authentic tacos, empanadas and so much more. I go here regularly.

Hidden gem, side of the road stand with great street food, and delicious, dark roast drip coffee. Jose, the owner, creates top notch bites including empanadas, papa rellenas, sándwiches, and other Latin American street food. Perfect to bring to the park, or for a casual seat at the stool. Drip coffee: best dark roast I’ve tried in the EV area. Smooth, highly drinkable, and deep. They use Cafe Bustelo beans, and they brew it perfectly. Not all cafes can get that brewing preparation right. The vibes are very local and very authentic. PS: there’s a friendly bird who may say hi as you hang out! Drip coffee score: 4.5/5. Everything else score: 4.75/5. Overall score: 4.6/5.

Jennifer's Cafe is a hidden jem! Jose, the owner, makes the visit worth it by himself, making you instantly feel welcome. The Cafe is a small booth on 4th street, with 4 bar stools looking into the small kitchen. The intimate space allows you to enjoy your coffee while having a conversation with Jose.
For the price ($2 for a small coffee, $7 for a coffee + 2 empanadas), it is an absolute steal. The homemade cheese empanadas are some of the best I've ever had, as is the homemade salsa verde. Although I've only tried the empanadas, the menu is vast with options for sandwiches, burritos, tacos, and more.
Overall, I can’t think of any reason why you shouldn't stop by Jennifer's cafe. Add it to your list!

Wow! Best empeñada I’ve had in NYC. Absolutely amazing. I just bought one, ate it and walked away, then walked back to buy another. Loved the green sauce!

Very friendly service, with a genuinely caring attitude. It’s a mom&pop style street-corner store that’s been around for decades. Very refreshing to see a small business like this thriving in the neighborhood
