This place clearly knows how to take care of their clients. Always with a very kind mindset. The food is affordably priced, constantly flavorful and neat.

I stayed 4 nights. Great dorm like accommodations. The rooms are small but sufficient. Has A/C, fridge, HD cable TV, comfortable bed. The shower/restroom was ALWAYS clean. Washer & dryers very convenient and appreciated. Front desk service is very pleasant and efficient. Security is their priority and right there available. This location is top notch when looking for food, street venders, CVS nearby, restaurants all along 2nd Ave, subway stations are just a short walk away.

I cant say anything about the hotel itself because I wasnt able to travel due to the coronavirus. They let me cancel for free, even though my booking was non refundable. The responded to my request within one day. Amazing service!

The most flavorful pizza I've had in a long time!

Great food but even greater heart. They are feeding NYC first responders and we thank you.

I think booking this hotel you'll know your getting the basics from the cost. The location is good, only a short walk over to times square and to grand central station for the subway. I didn't think the bathrooms were particularly clean on any occasion I was there, there is also no where near enough for the amount of rooms on each floor. Perhaps making stalls instead of a single bathroom and shower? Also no option of a dead bolt inside of the room which can be unnerving when your travelling alone and the safety boxes are only for cash/passports you're unable to fit in much more than those.

The room was larger than we expected - the photos don't do it justice. However, the bathroom was rather unclean even though the check sheet on the back of the door gets ticked every hour to say it's been cleaned and things like paper towel checked, this doesn't appear to happen. The security is very tight and the staff are very rude about seeing passes. You're warned at check in that the passes are sensitive to other cards and your phone. This wasn't a joke, mine broke day one - how absurd! Where are you meant to store it in this day and age? The heating system is very old, if you're easily woken this isn't the place for you since the pipes rattle all night in winter. The location is very good and the price was good for the time of year. This is very no frills, manage your expectations.

You can’t really complain about anything for its price and great location. Check in and check out was easy. We utilized the bag drop service on both times and were happy with that. Front desk employees are very cheerful. The place is very clean and safe. The only few things that bothered me were: - there was no ladder on the bunk beds so the top bunk was a challenge to get on/off every day. - there was only 1 female bathroom and 1 shared shower room for the entire floor. - Pillows were not provided, but pillow cases were! We asked the receptionist for pillows and never got them.

I have the luxury of travelling all over the world and staying in top class hotels. However this is a budget trip and I wanted to come to New York and not break the bank. I opted for the ymca having stayed here lots in my youth. I was nervous given the comments on here, however I am extremely impressed so far. Yes the room is very basic, but there is a bed, fridge, TV, air conditioner but not much else. In my mind, all that is all I need. I’ll be out most of the time. It’s spotless clean and the location is amazing. Bed seems comfortable. Best of all, there are top notch sports and swimming facilities, great sauna and stream room. Just what I need after travelling for 24 hours. I arrived early at midday expecting to have a long wait for a room, but they made one available for me. The staff member checking me was extremely polite, funny and very welcoming. Gave me all the right advice and was very engaging. This is far away from a 5 star hotel, but has great facilities and is a great for budget travellers.

The accommodation was basic and small (as expected!), but spotlessly clean. The security staff were overly zealous every evening when we got back because the at least we felt safe. The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is that we were told we could store our luggage before we departed. I checked the details of this when we checked in, but on the day we checked out the receptionist changed the goalposts and said we'd have to pay an extra $60 because our coach was arriving 15 minutes after their cut off time for storing luggage. I pointed out that by that time we'd have removed the luggage from the room and be waiting outside, but she was adamant. This poor customer service, unnecessary cost and poor communication between YMCA staff from our first and final days spoiled what had been a pleasant stay. I would recommend the Morning Star Cafe for breakfast each morning - it's on 2nd Ave and just around the corner. The food was fast, cheap, huge and lovely! The service was great and I'm going back when I visit next summer!

The staff are extremely rude, the blankets are too thin, the bathrooms are a joke. Bring baby wipes as anything is better than showering in that infectious hell hole. Rooms are too small and you have to do everything (brush teeth, do makeup etc) in the dirty toilets it’s just not fun. Would not even recommend to my worst enemy. Hope they go bankrupt and shut due to do everyone a favour.

The staff were unfriendly, the rooms were small and smelt bad, the bathrooms were dirty. Ruined my experience in New York just because of staying there. Would not recommend to anyone. DON’T STAY HERE!

Service was terrific. Can’t want to have them back for my next party!! Made the night stress free and i enjoyed watching my guests loving all the food!!

the pizza was acceptable, but they should avoid (fake) parmesan cheese on it and add more mozzarella. i also got the rice balls: rice in the form of balls surrounding cheese, ground meat, and peas slathered in red sauce. they were tasty, but rice was maybe a bit overcooked but, for $4, i don't know that there's a more filling lunch anywhere in manhattan.
