I got sucked into the hype. Yes, it’s $5 and a lot of food. Save your money & use it towards a better meal in Chinatown. Ordered the chives & pork dumplings. The dumpling skin was tough and rubbery.

No frills, hole in the wall cheap dumplings - the great equalizer. Tourists and homeless people both enjoying it.
I got the steamed dumplings and while they were flavorful, they were way too dough-y. Judging by pictures, the fried ones look better. The value:portion ratio is really what drives up the review score.

The pan fried dumplings are a bit doughier than other spots around nyc so it’s not my favorite cheap eats dumpling place. There are lots of things on the menu that are good. However, there are a lot of other things to try. You order at a window and there is no seating— however, you can go to the benches outside the park on Madison street or Columbus park to enjoy your dumplings.
Dumplings were terrible. Thick and gummy skin and untextured filling. Much better places elsewhere
