Yep, all the positive reviews are true. This place is the best of the best in the 5 boroughs. I thought Brooklyn Chinatown had the best but I was wrong. The Jin mei dumplings are the best because they're the best BALANCED dumplings. What do I mean by that? They're pan fried the way I like it: crispy! The meat to dough ratio is spot on. The pork chive mix isn't overwhelming. How do I know that? I'm not having after taste from burping it up. I know so because I killed 35 in one sitting. Though the jin mei dumplings are a bit smaller than the Brooklyn ones but it's about taste. Jin mei wins. It will be my go to spot when I'm in Manhattan south

I had been hearing about this place online for quite some time and decided to finally make a stop. We arrived within 15 mins of closing and ordered chive and pork fried dumplings and steamed ones as well. The order was ready within minutes and was $10! Can’t beat that in NYC. The dumpling meat was savory and delicious. But be prepared, it is cash only and there is only table to sit at.

hole-in-the-wall Chinatown spot, nearish to the Manhattan Bridge, serving up a small menu of fried and steamed Chinese quick eats. the frequent item order here is the pan-fried pork & chives dumplings...because of the price (15 dumplings for $5). the dumplings are served superhot. the dumplings themselves have thick wrappers and a thin amount of pork filling. overall, i enjoyed the dumplings for what they were--not what they're not. they make for a quick shareable snack post-adult beverages or when you want a quick meal. Jin Mei is very much no frills--no seating at all. there is a bottle of sriracha and a bottle of soy sauce to soak your eats before leaving. you have to request napkins, forks, etc. as they do not waste anything. the service is friendly enough and lines move quickly. hurrah that gritty NYC eateries are still surviving.
first time here ordered togo, the only option pretty much since there is only 1 table outside and non inside, their ordering table blocked off the door. not much of a service, basically taking orders sesame pancake 3/5 pretty salty for me fried dumpling 1/5 the most thickest skin i have ever had, extra oily and min fillings. yes it's cheap, however i don't think cheap should = sacrifice quantity also the oil smell weird. i've tried 20+ dumpling spots and so far this is the worst i had. i only ate 1 piece, my friend tried 1 piece and gave up.

The best bargain in NYC. The fried dumplings were OUTSTANDING. I was hangry on arrival and not looking forward to waiting. Ordered the fried dumplings with pork and they were in front of me before I could get my debit card out of my pocket. If you like dumplings or a bargain GO HERE.

I will gatekeep Jin Mei from everyone I know. Her dumplings go crazy & makes me feel like a happier and healthier man. She turns my grey gloomy days into sunshine with her fantastic pork dumplings. $5 for 15 dumplings or $5 for 10 Baos. I combo both everytime. Best $10 i've ever spent. I will continue to come back for her service & her vibez.
