Only coal fired brick oven in the city. Pizza tastes great! Recommend the original cheese. Pepperoni is not their speciality. However, their tomato sauce is delicious, tastes fresh and slightly sweet, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The dough is cooked perfectly. The pizza is light to eat. Highly recommend!

### Review of John's of Bleecker Street, New York

John's of Bleecker Street, a Greenwich Village institution since 1929, is widely celebrated for its authentic New York-style, coal-fired brick oven pizza. The pizzeria offers a no-frills, old-school vibe, with graffiti-covered wooden booths and checkered tablecloths, transporting diners back to a bygone era. Its unpretentious charm and historical significance make it a quintessential stop for pizza lovers visiting New York City.

#### Food Quality
The pizza at John's is the star attraction, and rightly so. Known for its thin, crispy crust, slightly charred from the coal-fired oven, it delivers a perfect balance of texture and flavor. The tomato sauce is tangy yet sweet, the mozzarella is fresh and generously applied, and the toppings—from pepperoni to mushrooms—are high quality. What sets John’s apart is its insistence on serving pies only; no slices are sold, ensuring that every pizza is freshly baked to order. The margherita pizza, with its simplicity, is a standout, while the sausage and peppers combination showcases the restaurant's mastery of classic flavors.

#### Atmosphere
John's has a welcoming, bustling ambiance that’s quintessentially New York. Despite its popularity and frequent long lines, the service is efficient, and the staff is friendly, albeit sometimes brisk due to the high volume of customers. The intimate space is often filled with lively chatter, making it a great spot for casual dining.

#### Service
Service at John's is straightforward and efficient. While it’s not a place for elaborate dining experiences, the waitstaff ensures that your pizza arrives promptly and piping hot. Reservations are not accepted, so expect to wait, especially during peak hours. However, the wait is part of the experience and builds anticipation for the meal ahead.

#### Value for Money
Despite its iconic status, John's remains reasonably priced, especially considering its location and reputation. A medium-sized pizza is sufficient for two to three people, making it a great option for those seeking high-quality pizza on a budget.

#### Final Verdict
John's of Bleecker Street is a must-visit for anyone craving an authentic New York pizza experience. Its rich history, exceptional pies, and vibrant atmosphere make it a standout in a city brimming with pizza joints. Whether you're a local or a tourist, dining at John's is more than just a meal—it’s a slice of New York history.

My family and I were really excited to try and yes, it was a good pizza restaurant with a standard menu.
Staff were nice and they have their line-up rules clear: ❕you sit when everyone arrives.

Pizza was thin crust, crispy and not greasy! The classic flavor was good, not too strong or oily, but olives we added were pretty salty.

Rice balls were crunchy with melting mozzarella cheese in the middle.

??Spinach ricotta raviolis were thick-filling. I’m not a ravioli person but I think their raviolis were good and worth the price. The sauce was average.

Meat balls were slightly dry. The texture was on the solid side.

Absolutely fantastic pizza. Line down the block, 3pm on Saturday but went fast. About 30 mins wait but service was great. Couldn’t get over how good the pizza was. Nice and thin so you don’t feel ridiculous eating half a pizza by yourself.
