Too dark, couldn't even see what I was eating. A little more light in the dining area would be very welcome.
The food far exceeds the experience. I've never felt as ignored and deliberately passed over as a patron on numerous occasions at any bar or restaurant in my 30 years of dining in New York City. Sitting outside on two occasions and inside once, it seemed as if I annoyed the staff with my presence. The food was good (not great), but I'll be damned if the staff was doing anything more than waiting for their paycheck. Damn that. Find another place for lunch or dinner.

Sorry for not posting in a while, have been really busy, but I’m back at it and back in New York!
This was amazing! Would come here again! Only reason I put 4 is because my family did not really like their food. Said the sauce was not great, but I had the burger which was mind blowing. Would come here again!

Two days ago my boyfriend and I stopped by for the second time and it was an absolute disaster. We wanted to have a quick bite and some drinks but the service was nonexistent from the time we sat down. The manager sat us down and my boyfriend mentioned how the back area is really cozy and unexpected but the manager failed to give us a story. Instead he was “oh yeah you see a long bar when you come in and when you go to the back it’s like wow.” The server rushed to us and we didn’t even have time to look at the menu and she was asking us about drinks. Few minutes later she came back took our beer order and said “that’s it?” Like excuse. We wanted to give it a second try since we were at the bar the first time and it was everything we read online. I don’t know how they’re in business with such reputation. The manager sat down to a table next to us with this gentleman clearly didn’t not enjoy his meal he had the check while having a full plate. We could hear the manager ranting about every bad thing going on in the restaurant, what a shame. I mean at least keep it quiet or if it’s that bad why work there. My boyfriend and I couldn’t even talk because all we could hear was him bashing the staff, how they’re struggling, the food not being consistent. This is so sad to see a long standing restaurant with that kind of reputation.

We ate there 3 times in the last 4 weeks and their food is the best. Number one is their fish and chips. The cod is perfect and the batter is the best I have had in a long time. Shepherd's pie made with lamb was very tasty. Hamburger nice and juicy. Highly recommend this restaurant. Friendly staff and nice ambience.
This spot has a great atmosphere. I came specifically to try the JWF Salmon Burger, and it was good and well-cooked, the chips were delicious too. Also started with a Caesar salad with anchovy, which was fresh and had a nice balance of dressing. For dessert, I tried the sticky toffee pudding—it was decent, though the rum sauce was a bit too bitter for my liking.
They have a solid beer selection, and the one I chose was cold, crisp, and paired perfectly with the meal.
Service was attentive and well-paced, no complaints.
Overall, the food was solid—not mind-blowing, but I’ve never been disappointed. Still a great gastropub, and I don’t know many places that have a salmon burger! Definitely worth checking out!

Great food, good drink selection, great happy hour. Just wouldn’t recommend going when Albina is tending the bar. She provides a subpar service. It’s slow and not friendly. Watched people walk out.

Full English serving size didn’t match the price or full English I’m accustomed to from UK but I suppose it’s the UES version, with overly done egg. Fish and chips was amazing though!

Fish and chips were nothing special. The shepherds pie was phenomenal. Both gave generous portions.

Overrated! I went on a double date here and ended up picking up the bill, which came to over $250. We each had one drink, and the food was underwhelming at best. The calamari was overpriced and not worth it. Our waitress only checked in once, and when the food finally arrived, the Shepherd’s Pie was hot, but the rest of the dishes were lukewarm. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was a huge disappointment. Honestly, the only positive aspect of the visit was the company I was with—we couldn’t help but laugh at how bad everything was.
Dietary restrictions: None
Kid-friendliness: None.
Wheelchair accessibility: None that I saw. Tight hallways and stairs.

This might actually be the worst service I’ve ever gotten at a restaurant. Waited over an hour for my food and when it came, it was ice cold. Ordered a hot apple cider and it was barely room temp. Our server Gabby disappeared for over an hour. She also sat us at a table with no flatware and, instead of properly greetings us, she opened with complaining about her day. We had to flag down multiple other servers to try to order, figure out where our food was, and get the bill. We had to actively hunt down a server to pay our bill. Overall an incredibly frustrating experience. Would not recommend to my worst enemy (unless I feel like making them waste $22 on freezing cold food and terrible service).

It looks like a tiny neighborhood bar/restaurant. Oh No! It's very large with three dining rooms, a very nice menu, with delicious food and large portions. This was my first visit, and I'm already planning to come back with friends.

Had a really unfortunate experience at Jones Wood today. Despite the delicious tasting food, we waited just shy of 90 minutes for our meal to be plated. A staff member didn’t even approach to take our drinks until 30 minutes into our table booking, which didn’t help when we saw numerous groups who were seated after us continue to get helped and have food served before I even had a sip of my ginger ale to enjoy.
Unsure if I’ll be returning to this establishment I once thought fondly of if this behavior continues.

Whoever says the fish and chips is good has not eaten good fish and chips. Flavorless. And the fries were overcooked. Completely disappointed since I had a hankering for fish and chips for a few weeks. Proper British fish and chips. This spot failed. HOWEVER(!!!!!), where they excel is the tuna tartare. It was EXCELLENT. I’ll be back for it. Very chill spot. Staff was on point. I just hope they get the fish and chips right. They should do an exploratory visit to A Salt & Battery—they seem to be highly ranked—and Hawksmoor to see how their fish & chips compares. I have high hopes! Let’s go!!
