This spot has a wonderful ambiance. The employees at this place are exceptional. The design is practical and hygiene is clearly important here. The dishes impressed independent of special treatment. You won't regret visiting this restaurant.

I was in New York for a week. So I have been eating different type of food but Korean bbq sounded very good to me. I was craving for it. So we found this place on Yelp. We uber there and ate for the first time I was beyond my expectations. It wasn’t all you can eat. We ordered out of la a carte the combo. It was satisfied my cravings. Lucky it was good too. Because it was our first time. So we wouldn’t know if it will be good or bad.

I turned down rides just to build appetite on my walk here. The food quality here is visibly exceptional. The restaurant provides good value with minimal wait. I stumbled upon something special here!!! I'm devoted to this spot and you'll understand why.

So i was there tuesday as a big group everything was okay before our waitress started being aggressive with us we were on the 5th flr ive been to this restaurant for decade and never felt like this or treated this way she probably doesnt even wanna work here fo sho worst night no more old jongro sad
Best Korean BBQ by far that I’ve visited between the West and East coast. While pricey, not more so than a steakhouse. Fun, great experience.
This is hands down the best place for gopchang I’ve ever been to. The intestines were perfectly grilled — crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside. Everything was fresh, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. The dipping sauces were on point too. If you’re a fan of gopchang or just curious to try it, this place is a must. I’ll definitely be coming back!
My go-to spot for Korean barbecue!! Service is terrific and food is always great!
Spent nearly $860 for an extremely underwhelming experience. Despite informing them ahead of time that it was a special occasion, there was no effort made to acknowledge it. Service was rigid they would not allow us to order any drinks simply because one member of our party was underage. Overall, disappointing for the price and expectations.

gave us like 100$ worth of meat for 400 dollars total, didn’t do anything for the birthday that we had alerted them of on our reservation. wouldn’t let us order drinks because not everybody in our party was 21 years old 😭
Having visited Jongro Gopchang around 20 times, it's definitely time for a review. In my opinion, and having tried the other major gopchang spots in K-Town, this place consistently delivers the best, purely meaty flavor (if you prefer that over marinated options). It never misses for me. I usually get the combo (gopchang, makchang, daechang), but if you're new to gopchang, I recommend starting with the makchang/daechang as they aren't as much of an acquired taste.
The vibe here feels like a natural extension of Jongro, the popular K-BBQ spot, complete with old-school K-pop music, which perfectly fits the restaurant's overall brand.
Pro-Tip: Based on my experience, the grilling tends to be better on weekends. I've had a few weekday visits where the grilling was questionable. You want to avoid seeing the daechang fats exploding out – that's a sign it's not cooked properly yet and will likely end up rubbery by the time it is. Also, be wary of oil splashes as they unfortunately don't provide covers. I recommend wearing longer sleeves and not bringing your face too close to the grill.
On a recent visit, I was a bit bummed to find that they've stopped serving the complimentary Korean-style steamed egg (계란찜) due to rising costs. While understandable, it hasn't been replaced with another appetizer, and it was always a great starter before the gopchang arrived. Also, the 김치말이 국수 (kimchi soup noodles?) has changed its flavor since they first opened and didn't taste good when I visited yesterday. I'd stick to the 냉면 (cold buckwheat noodles), which isn't the absolute best, but it's still a good refresher to combat the oiliness of the meats.
The side dishes are pretty solid. I especially love that they provide several types of pickled vegetables.
Overall, the service has been great. When it's not too busy, they're always thoughtful enough to separate the noodles for us, and the staff are generally very friendly. As a tip for the fried rice you can get after the meats, I personally wouldn't get the 날치알 (flying fish roe) because it seems more for texture and visual appeal and doesn't really justify the cost for what it adds. Sometimes you can't even feel the texture. Also, keep in mind that the taste of the fried rice can vary depending on who cooks it for you. I still remember the first time I came, the server was incredible at frying the rice, and I hope they're doing well!

April and Shea are the best. Once you walk in they make you feel welcome. Always accommodating and very professional.

I'm a big fan of Jongro on the 2nd floor, but this one at 5th is not for me. Servers are rushing us to finish everything. As far as I know, this is not AYCE type of resto, so how come they want us out right away? Given that it's Friday night, but let us know beforehand that we can only eat there for less than 2 hrs instead of making us feel that our business is not needed. It's not a good experience for me.
