A fun and crowded bar where people dance and sing along to the hit songs of the 60s, 70s and 80s but almost nothing after around 1986. A good time for young people of all ages.

This is one of those places in New York City that if you know you know. The line might be intimidating, but it is absolutely worth it. The DJs are incredible. The drinks are very very good. The crowd is very beautiful. That's the best way I can put it. I would recommend getting here before 10:00 or right after 10:00 to avoid the line. The line truly can be intimidating. Let me just reiterate that but other than that 10 out of 10 would recommend to anyone who loves to dance to strictly dance disco funk music.

We waited in line for 30 minutes on a Friday night until this guy came out and told us they were only taking reservations. Be for real.insane.

Racist towards black people and they didn’t let us in. They lied and said it was a private event and we came back 20 minutes later to see a line and we asked people if they are attending the private event and they said there was none. So we spoke to the women named mandy and then she said we couldn’t enter because our male friend was wearing shorts. But there was no private event. They were only letting white people in. Disgusting. I totally understand it’s N.Y.C. and you have every right to gatekeep a place but there’s no need to lie. Say no with dignity!

Great 70/80s dance music with a pretty eclectic crowd committed to have the best time. Energy & service was top notch, (love that water bottles were available at the bar to help yourself) including the security by the door.
Drinks were a bit expensive though.

This is my absolute favorite place in NYC. I love dancing here, the music is so great, the atmosphere is just good ol' fashioned FUN, and I love that they let all age groups in. It does get very busy and crowded, so seems like the negative reviews are people who couldn't get in when it was super busy, or are just too basic!

Don’t waste your time, you won’t even get in.
Not sure what happened over the past year but dynamic of bouncers has shifted. They take instagram reservations now?? Turning into an influencer bar.
Go to Beauty Bar instead

Service was complete ass and the workers are even worse. If you don’t want to get discriminated don’t go

we came here everyday when joyface had just opened. we’re here to have a good time rather than get attitude from the BOUNCER about the wait time for joyface lol. who gives a shit. they just announced a wait time of 2 hours with some pride for a line of 0 people long. i personally preferred this place 2 years ago. thanks and see you never again.

Not sure when they got too good for everyone here but it’s super disappointing. To preface, I came here a bunch last year with no issues and it was awesome! The atmosphere was cool, the drinks were good, and they played amazing music. But in the past few months, every time I’ve tried to go no matter what time is it they asked if I have a reservation and when I say no they say to come back at 1am. Last night I finally asked the bouncer (who was very nice by the way) what was going on and he said they’ve started doing reservations through Instagram DMs (🙄). We opted to go to Beauty Bar a few blocks over instead, which is basically just the dive bar version of Joyface, and had a much better time than I usually have here anyway. Overall, I do think Joyface is a cool spot but I won’t be coming back, I don’t want to patronize somewhere that gets a little attention from TikTok and all the sudden starts acting snobby.

It is crowded, but people are respectful. Jump on the mini stage, get on the water bed, snap a picture with your bestie, and then dance to the 80s and 90s. It's like prom night, but better.
