The best restaurant I’ve been to in New York, my partner and I came on a 7 day trip and we were dumbfounded by the amazing service, delicious food, and the awesome drinks! We will 10000% be coming back the next time we’re back! Massive shoutout to Ashwin for being the friendliest and most welcoming person I’ve come across:)

Loved the atmosphere! I went to Juban solo and sat at the bar for a drink and some sushi. The bartender was really helpful and even tailored a cocktail for me based on my preferences. The sushi was also delicious, tasted fresh and the decor is really fun. Will def be coming back!

I’ve been dining here for over 10 years, the service is immaculate, food is amazing they have traditional Japanese cuisine and enough of a variety for those who aren’t in the mood for seafood and it’s always fresh. The music gives you a calm, refreshing ambience which makes it the place to rejuvenate especially in the evening. You meet phenomenal people, the drinks are made just right and the prices match the quality. Highly recommend.

A Hidden Sushi Gem That Deserves the Spotlight

Tucked away just around the corner, this sushi restaurant is one of the neighborhood’s best-kept secrets — and it’s time more people knew about it.

From the moment you walk in, the warm, welcoming staff set the tone for an unforgettable dining experience. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between cozy and elegant

The sushi is Exceptionally fresh and clearly crafted with care. And if you love sake, this place is a dream — their curated collection is both extensive and thoughtfully selected, with something to suit every palate.- you should try all of them.

In a city full of dining options, this spot stands out for all the right reasons. It’s authentic, inviting, and consistently excellent.

A true neighborhood treasure that’s more than worth discovering. - LINA

Juban in Chelsea is a standout for incredible Japanese cuisine, warm service, and a stylish yet cozy vibe. Every dish is thoughtfully prepared, and the staff makes you feel right at home. A must-visit spot in NYC!

So we ordered the spicy “pickled” cucumbers, fried shishito peppers, chicken karaage, buta kimchi, and o-toro nigiri.

The first server pushed edamame on us when we asked for a minute to order and we had to firmly tell them no. Then the order of food that comes out is spicy “pickled” cucumbers (if you’re expecting a quick pickled appetizer, this is not it; it was too salty, not enough vinegar to consider to be pickled), fried shishito peppers (not salted enough before frying, but it turned out that the sauce on the cucumbers had enough salt to compensate), chicken karaage (good), o-toro sushi (fish was great, rice not so much), then pork belly kimchi. The pork belly took too long to come out and should have not been the final dish.

The female server was nice and as accommodating as she could be, and the rest were…. ok. That’s all.

The sushi here is amazing — super fresh. The salmon nigiri basically melts in your mouth, and the spicy tuna roll had just the right kick. Kobe beef with rice and short rib skewers were fantastic. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is cozy. Great selection of Sake and delicious lychee Martinis. Definitely will be back.

Worst restaurant I've been to in a while. Food was mediocre at best, tiiiiny portions but very pricey. The cocktails were disgusting. Tasted diluted, like they put water instead of alcohol. So we got sake for our second round. The server kept pouring our sake when our glasses weren't even empty, like they wanted us to get out. Mind you, we had very early dinner, so the restaurant was not even full.

This is the friendliest spot and when I move to Chelsea this will be my spot every week. Great food. I just gave a budget to the team and they did an awesome job ordering for us. It felt like a tasting menu experience without the tasting menu cost of 180+. From the salad to the drinks to the kimchi pork dish this is for sure a can’t miss spot.

A real locals spot

Sometimes I tell people that almost every restaurant in New York that isn't a chain is worth checking out. I now stand corrected, because this place looks great on the outside but once you sit down it's like a parody of a downtown restaurant from a cartoon. Everything is crazy expensive, and I strongly advise against coming hungry because each of those expensive dishes is absolutely minuscule. Food takes a really long time to show up and appears kind of randomly. I know izakaya is supposed to be bar snacks, but there's a disconnect going on here where they're charging restaurant prices for bar portions, with expensive drinks to boot. I think they're asking something like $19 for well drinks. The vibes inside weren't too bad, but none of that really matters when you show up sober and hungry and leave, two and a half grinding hours later, in about the same state just with a significantly lighter wallet.

The service and the restaurant are great. My wife and I tried quite a bit on the menu (shumai, octopus, 2 sushi rolls, chicken skewers, etc.) and we left feeling like the food was good, but nothing stood out as exceptional. Overall, we liked it but feel like there are better options to visit.

Extremely expensive for truly tiny portions and very strange experience overall. Everything on the menu you could find at any other izakaya for 1/2 of the price, and at any grocery store you could find food off the same quality. First red flag is an unnecessary request written right on the menu to spend a minimum amount per person. Some staff was kind, others extremely pushy and upselling in a frankly scary way – I understand this is part of restaurant business but our whole party felt awkward and uncomfortable. Overall staff felt poorly trained. Food came out all at different times, peoples orders were combined into single plates, and table was bussed as we were still seated – staff used rugs and swept crumbs right onto guests! Felt like a fever dream.
