Overpriced coffee, taking advantage of coffee-shop hype. They have good beans, but can’t prepare them.
Their $6 decaf tastes so awful and burnt, I had one sip and then left to go to another cafe. I recommend the owners get some decent decaf coffee beans - there are great ones out there and there must be plenty of customers who drink decaf for various reasons. They also have no bathroom.
Yes, the place is overpriced for coffee... like every coffee shop in the city. The difference is that here the coffee is delicious, the staff super nice, they have a great outdoor space behind the building, and very good vibes all over.
Solid coffee. Not cheap, but not out of range for the neighborhood. Very nice staff. The breakfast burrito, while a little pricey, is absolutely fabulous.
The coffee here is good and it is nice to support a place that is not part of a big chain. Quick and pleasant service.
But staff wasn’t friendly. We were standing in front of the cashier for 5 minutes until we were allowed to order. Nobody seemed to care. I wouldn’t go back there. To be fair, the coffee was not bad.
Besides being a little over priced. The bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich I had was delicious. I also enjoyed my vanilla latte. Customer service is great. Place is clean. And tables outside where in a nice open are.
I had such a good frittata from thus café. Fresh and delicious. Support this business!
Best Coffee in the west village!Friendly staff. Great selection of tasty pastries.
Just a place to get a good coffee.

Seating is good considering the size of the establishment. No low chairs or seats with backs. Coffee is overpriced, even for the area it’s in- but it’s of high quality so it’s forgivable. I’d say it’s good in a pinch.
UPDATE: I've now learned that kava is actually the Croatian word for coffee. I upgraded to 5 stars because it is truly a really great coffee shop.---Coffee and location is good. My only problem with this spot is the name. They don't serve any Kava. Imagine a spot called the Tequila cafe and they don't serve tequila. It's a little bizarre in my opinion. Misleading name but cool spot.
The coffee is good and worth it (flat white works really nice here) the banana muffin is another story (not bad but just meh to be honest) I like this trend where the barista is from where the beans are from ;)
Great coffee and friendly service!
Visiting NYC Chelsea and was surprised that no cafes open early! The one I found was in the meat packing district, Kava. Real nice, efficient guy manning the place at 7am. Top notch capacinio. Check it out
