I've been to Keens before, and I always like it when I'm in Manhattan. The food is good, and the service is great too. I think the steaks could use a bit more seasoning, though. They do mention something about salt on the menu, and I even asked my server to season it well, but it still needed a bit more. But overall, it's a nice place to go.

Great atmosphere. Classic old school steak house vibes. Old smoking pipes on the ceiling, Perfect gin martinis. Porterhouse for two, mutton chop, and lamb chops were plenty for our party of 4. Each cut of meat was juicy, tasty, and has me craving them now, as I write. The service was fantastic. A repeat visit is a given.

The best steak I've had in a long time. A little pricey, but worth it. Our waiter, Greg, was super charming and very helpful in aiding our guests in finding what they wanted. A great experience.

So many options for steakhouses in the city, and we decided to check out Keens. It's an old steakhouse with an interesting history, reflected in its darker interior, wooden floors, narrow staircase, and the old ceramic pipes lining the ceiling, as many distinguished guests would smoke pipes within those walls, keeping their pipes there for subsequent visits to drink and dine.Keens is known for its "famous mutton chop." Huge, tender, and delicious with no gaminess. Truly superb! Definitely shareable, too.Everything else was just mediocre. We ordered a dozen east coast oysters to start. They had a wonderful flavor and the accompanying mignonette sauce was perfect. It was such a disappointment to find that every single oyster had pieces of broken shell in them. Every single one.I ordered the filet mignon and lobster, something I get whenever it's a menu option. The lobster was tasty but the filet was under-seasoned and dry. Filets are known for being quite lean, but there was zero moisture in this one. I've had far more flavorful and more tender filets than this one.We skipped dessert since we were generally underwhelmed with everything else (except the mutton chop).Service was exceptional, from the host to the waitstaff. Attentive without being intrusive. If you like mutton (or lamb), and you want to see a one of the city's historical steakhouses, go.For everything else, take a pass.

Among the reviews I saw before entering the store, there was one that said Asians would be directed to a corner room on the upper floor. When I followed the staff up the stairs, my friend and I wondered if it was possible, but when we entered the room, everyone except one was Asian. I felt strange looking at the room where Koreans, Chinese, and Japanese people gathered together, but the people serving us were not particularly unfriendly. The food was delicious.

The taste is very good, but it has a lot of meaty flavor, so people may like it or not.All the reviews said there was a lot of meat, so I ordered a T-bone steak, but it wasn't enough so I ended up eating a lamb steak as well (according to a man who is a big eater). The atmosphere is nice and the staff are all friendly, but both steaks were cooked poorly so I took off one star. When ordering the second steak, they even emphasized that it would be medium rare, but then they ordered it medium again, making what should have been a pleasant meal become ambiguous.
