Got the veggie burger, broccoli, cauliflower, and a spindrift. Ate in. First off, the spindrift was warm. They should totally have a water spigot for those eating in. The food was decent but nothing amazing - the sides were more interesting than the sandwiches. When I first heard about this place, it had more interesting vegan options. What happened to those?
The salad options just seem like boring, strictly inferior versions of what you could get at a make-your-own salad place for the same cost. Not sure what their angle is with those...
Also lame that you have to order through your phone even in the restaurant. Why not have a tablet?

I can’t believe Kernel has completely abandoned their initial generosity of vegan menu items. The only things that (currently) are vegan are the tofu chopped salad, the sides, the cookies, and the ketchup. No sandwiches and not even the tofu Caesar salad for folks who don’t eat animal-derived ingredients. Who knows if they’ll even maintain this low level of service?

Kernel is so delicious and convenient! The staff is also exceedingly friendly. I love the Eggplant Parm sandwich, and definitely don't sleep on the carrots.

Kernel used to be all vegan and serve a great vegan burger. Then they started serving dairy, eggs, and even chicken. Nevertheless, I still defended this place and rated it four stars: after all, it still offered a bunch of vegan items, including its great vegan burger. Accordingly, I felt that as a vegan-friendly eaterie, Kernel remained a special place.
However, I just checked their online menu, and I see that they no longer serve their vegan burger! The only vegan food items they now serve are two salads (let's face it, most salads are easy to make vegan--and lots of places offer vegan salads), some sides (again, not unusual), and two types of vegan cookies.
What happened?! In addition to no longer listing their vegan burger, they no longer list their vegan falafel sandwich or vegan chicken sandwich. So what is so special about this place now?

I am not a vegan but love eating good food that makes me feel good too and that is what I get every time at Kernel! If I am in an eggplant parm mood or roasted chicken mood, I can always get the tasty sides and love it all!
