Good day,
On Sunday, Dec. 8th, at approximately 3:00pm I purchased a 12-piece family meal with an addition original recipe chicken sandwich at the KFC located at 120 W. 125th Street. The cost came to $54.09. I attempted to use a $50 dollar bill in my payment, but the cashier said they do not take $50. She called the manager who abruptly exclaimed we do not take $50 dollar bills; I would have to go to another store to get change and then she just walked away. I felt the tome was appropriate, but I paid with $20 dollar bills. The cashier returned in my change a very tattered $5 dollar bill. I asked could I have a different bill because of the poor condition of the $5. She asked the manager who abruptly said “I aint gonna open the drawer” and again walked away. Again, I felt her tone was needlessly rude. While I was waiting, I noticed a handwritten sign saying they do not accept $50 and $100 dollar bills. When I received my order, I asked the manager that when the cashier opens her register drawer for another order, could she switch the $5 dollar bill they gave me with a bill in better condition. She responded by saying “I’m not obligated to give you another five. A five is a five.” Again, her tone was rude and disrespectful. I inquired her name, and she responded “Meme.” I ask for a full name and she responded in the same inappropriate tone - “I said Meme. If you want to make a complaint, they will know who it is.” I left at that point.
All I requested was the curtesy of a better conditioned bill than the one I was given. Because of its poor condition I will have to be inconvenienced to go to a bank to exchange it because it is unlikely another establishment will. Clearly, the management needs significant training in customer relations. I ask that all staff be instructed to act professionally and courteously with the customers.
