Beer, only beer, aesthetic is not worth a factually bad bar. I loved the red nostalgia, great vibe in that respect but vibe without substance hits a pang. Only place with affordable drinks within a mile, still, only beer. Plenty of college kids on a budget, but the ideological exchange vibe wasn't there. Grunge intellectual aesthetic but not the knife in the table sincere belief you find in Philly, plus no one talks to anyone. I get it, it's 2024 NYC, strangers are aliens, but you hardly have a cafe if you've atomized the exchange. Service casual, can't complain. I did not have a good time, would barely expect others to do so, would not return but to show another the aesthetic then promptly leave.

Was there for drinks. Nice vibe. Quite loud and crowded. Good place for drinks. Service is ok but can be slow due to crowd.

The bar is as you would expect it but also expect to be harassed for tips. The bartender felt we didn't tip enough after tipping on 2-3 different tabs and told us "this is how I make my rent, if you don't tip enough it will affect service" like ??. I just felt this was really forward and unprofessional

Intimate spot for jazz music. Got a seat right next to the band and they were out of this world. Staff was quirky, but no problems.

It was a great night. The service was a bit slow.

Lots to explore in this bar, conveniently in one of the best parts of New York City. They host fun, unique events like poetry nights and more worth checking out. Incredible history behind the making of the KGB Bar.The vibe is welcoming to all individuals, which I thoroughly appreciate.

Visited KGB Bar on Halloween for a couple of cocktails, expecting a spooky good time. The atmosphere was not bad, and unfortunately, the drinks didn't quite hit the mark. Both cocktails we tried lacked the finesse and flavor we were hoping for, coming off as rather underwhelming. Service was not quick, and the setting was a little bit interesting, but the drinks were a letdown. An average experience on what should have been a standout night.

Happened upon this establishment on a night out with my college friend and my long term partner who has a squat PR related knee injury. The drinks and ambiance were fantastic but there were few available seats so my partner had to take a knee at the table we were sitting at. Enjoyed the environment and chats we had with interesting strangers.

We had a couple of beers, sitting in the bar and chattered with the hostess that was kind to tell us a little bit about this place's history. Not disappointed. Cozy and cool atmosphere.

Gotta say, super fresh Stella. NY does fresh beer very well also most everywhere, but here, the Stella is above par.

2nd floor is a cool bar with cool Soviet-themed decor and a vibey event space on the top floor. Came here on a Friday night at 10--decent crowd without being overpacked. Drinks are ok but reasonably priced. Oh and you definitely gotta come for the eccentric bartenders!
