Had the A5 wagyu beef. The meat was so tender. The broth was so yummy and flavorful. No extra dips needed

We arrived to Kimura 10min before opening on a weekend and there were 3 parties in front of us in line. They opened on time and there were no issues getting seated, with no reservation, but we were seated in the backyard heated room. Our waiter and the staff there were polite and friendly. Everything we ordered was flavorful and delicious. Only complaint was I wish portion size was bigger. Haha. Beef tongue slices (5pcs) $14 - marinated grilled tender slices Yuzu Miso Salmon $15 - Includes fresh salmon sashimi topped with yuzu miso and sesame ponzu sauce, green onion and onion slices Hakata Motsu Nabe $27/person - Includes beef intestines, cabbage, leek, tofu, burdock, and sesame, chili sauce on the side. I would like to come back to try the of other nabe options.

After a long day at work, my girlfriend and I found a quiet retreat in Kimura Motsunabe, a secluded Japanese hot pot eatery in NYC. As we walked in, the gentle melody of quiet Japanese music welcomed us, setting the tone for a serene evening. The service was as kind and gentle as the ambiance, complementing the overall vibe of the restaurant. Our culinary journey started with the Kiss of Fire roll. Its little crispy bites broke up the soft texture of the rice and fish. It was a well-made, standard spicy sushi - a delicious blend of spicy and sweet that we both loved, especially with the added kick from the jalapeno.Next, we indulged in the Mentai Mushroom Trio Udon. The earthy mushroom flavors, coupled with the cooked fish eggs, created a rich, umami taste. The addition of salty pickled ginger gave the dish an extra zing and a fresh, herbal flavor that harmonized well with the earthy mushrooms. The udon was chewy and had a great stir-fried texture. The Hakata Motsu Nabe was a comforting treat for our cold day. The broth was brimming with flavor, and the chewy beef intestines paired perfectly with the sauce. The sweetness of the cabbage and the leek added depth to the dish. It was the leek and the broth that were the real stars, soothing us like a balm after our rough day. We were left wanting more, leading us to order another nabe. The Collagen Nabe was equally satisfying. The pork was flavorful, with the sauce enhancing its taste even more. The pig feet were remarkably clean, with no gamey taste, and the pork belly was plentiful. The spicy broth kept the dish exciting. To finish off the meal, we enjoyed the White Peach Sake Kamikokoro Momo. It was sweet, tasty, and the white peach flavor made it a refreshing accompaniment to our meal.In summary, Kimura Motsunabe offered us a delightful and serene dining experience. This is a place we would highly recommend for its flavorful food, calming ambiance, and kind service.

04/07/2024This is my second time coming to this store with my boyfriend~The first time I came here, I thought it was very small inside. But there was a seat in the back, so we felt like we were outdoors. But in a small suite with heating, eating beef intestine hotpot?, who knows this feeling! !It was very cold that day, so it was really delicious to have a bowl of this! The service attitude was also very good, and we were very satisfied with our meal! The squid? is also very delicious~Beef tongue is a must! ! But rather saltyI usually eat a mouthful of beef tongue and drink a mouthful of soup. It feels great! ?In the photo are: beef intestine hot pot, whole squid?, beef tongueYou can try it all!

Fun authentic japanese spot for sukiyaki and Mizutaki Nabe (Tableside soups and broths). Snacks are pretty tasty too.The atmosphere is young and decor filled with japanese pop culture motifs.Small booths at the back are ideal for privacy and small groups.

I like their grilled squid but hot pot is the obvious star here. The Pork Belly Nabe despite its name also has a plentiful amount of vegetables. I particularly dislike bean sprouts but everything cooked in the soup was so delicious, especially with the sauce and rice. I was very comfortably full afterwards without it feeling too heavy. If you're not opposed to eating pig collagen, the Collagen Nabe is probably my go-to. It's little spicier and has a richer mouthfeel than the Pork Belly. Highly recommend trying it at least once. They also have a nice selection of drinks here. I ordered their lycheemoni which was super refreshing and tasty. This is the perfect place to go when it's cold out. (It's also super warm inside). Highly recommend making a reservation, especially for a group. It's a bit small and the place fills up fast.

Sometimes, wonderful discoveries are hidden by the most humble exteriors. Kimura is one of these places that you are thrilled to have discovered. It's been in the exact location for 30 years, so I feel like a bit of a fool for never knowing about it, but now I know.On a rainy Saturday afternoon, we were craving a homey Japanese meal and found Kimura, just as you have. Hidden among the barrage of shops and restaurants on Saint Marks Place, this little entrance hides a much larger and delicious operation. The restaurant has multiple dining areas that start at the front and progress to a small backyard, which features a Japanese stone garden with dining huts. As our host escorted us through the whole restaurant and then back outside again, I had concerns as it was pouring rain, but when I saw how rustic it was, I started to get excited. We could not have been more thrilled to find ourselves in a private little outdoor dining hut made from corrugated metal and rustic wood beams, making the entire experience even more authentic. The added feature of falling rain on the roof made for an exceptional soundtrack. Temperature was not an issue, as two heat lamps kept us nice and cozy.Having never been, we decided to try one of the most popular choices: pork belly Nabe (hot pot), along with some Teppan-style gyoza and a yuzu miso salmon starter. We were informed the gyoza might take a while, but we were committed and rewarded for our patience.First, the Nabe. This cast iron pot was filled with cabbage, bean sprouts, and leek and covered with a layer of pork belly and tofu. The server informed us that he would manage the hot pot as he turned on the flame to allow Kimura's classic chicken and pork broth to simmer and steam the vegetables. This dish was exceptional. The broth was delicious and light, which allowed the vegetables to stand out on their own. We ordered a single-person size, and it was plenty for us with the other items. The Teppan-style gyoza slightly differs from what we expected, but we were pleasantly surprised. Instead of being fully enclosed, these gyoza were like small tacos, with the wrapper fully sauteed on the outside and a succulent pork filling in the center. Each one was two bits if you were aiming for graceful. Lastly, the salmon was equally delicious, with large slices served on top of sliced sweet onion dressed with ponzu.I cannot say enough about the food, service, and experience. It was rather epic to show up and be seated outside while a storm raged all around us; while we were dry and cozy inside our little hut, I looked forward to coming back on a snowy night.Rest assured that regardless of where you sit, you will be happy. The dining room is just as rustic in decor, and the food is exceptional no matter where you sit

This was my fourth time back to Kimura for their amazing hakata motsu nabe. I especially love that they offer a small size pot for people like me who love exploring restaurants by themselves. The beef intestines were fresh and clean and the broth was full of umami flavor. I highly recommend adding shirataki noodles to the pot. I’ve also tried their sashimi before and was impressed by the quality of their fish. So far Kimura is my favorite place in NYC for Japanese hot pot.

This tiny restaurant is reminiscent of an authentic Japanese eatery, from the decor, to the service and importantly the food. It offers a style of hot pot that is more like a stew. The pork belly broth is full of flavor. The bean sprouts and the cabbage gave the stew a nice crunch. A very hearty and filling meal. The service was outstanding. I will be back for sure.

I am so excited to write this review! My husband and I were in the mood for sushi and hot pot so we decided to try this place out. Holy moly ! The that happiness flooded through my body when we walked through the door, let me tell you. We were greeted by friendly faces who sat us in a little nook in the back. The ambience, in my opinion, reminded me so much of Japan. We came at the perfect time because we took the last seat! We ordered a pork belly, hot pot and sushi. Our server brought over our hot pot and tended to the hot pot and then served us when ready. While we were waiting for the hot pot to cook, I had a delicious Yuzu margarita, which I highly recommend! It had the perfect amount of sweet and salty citrus. The food was absolutely incredible. The pork belly hot pot was a total flavor bomb! The sushi was incredibly fresh and delicious. I recommend definitely coming in groups or plan on taking some home because there is a lot of food for sure! We ate what we could! This would be the perfect meal, especially when it's really cold outside. If you were in the mood for hot pot and some deliciously, fresh sushi, I highly recommend this spot!!

Amazing nabe/shabu shabu with amazing service. It is affordable and delicious! Big portion as well! I had the porkbelly nabe, the soup is very tasty and cabbage is very soft and sweet!Their chill oil is very tasty, it is an amazing remix with soup, somewhat turn it sour like if added vinegar. Which could have that spicy & sour taste similar to the Chinese dish called 酸辣粉.Will definitely come back for more! Servers were all super friendly and nice!

We ordered: 1. Hakata Motsu Nabe 博多もつ鍋 - Beef Intestine, cabbage, leek, tofu, sesame, chili, burdock 2. Kushiage Party combo - Beef, Chicken & Scallion, Pumpkin, Shiitake mushroom, Scallop, Salmon Really great, unique Japanese restaurant that specializes in Japanese hot pot. Our hot pot broth was rich and soothing in the cold temperature. I think they give you an appropriate portion for the number of people assuming you order at least one appetizer or other dish for the table. Kushiage were crispy and properly cooked inside. The bbq and mustard sauces were perfect for the skewers. Service was good. They checked on us, even replaced a skewer that fell to the floor. We got outdoor seating which was in a tent with a heater. It was comfortable.
