The sommelier we had was pretentious and unhelpful. I wanted to get a good wine to go with my food but he came before I had a chance to go over the menu. We talked through what I wanted to order but he didn’t suggest anything so I ended up ordering a white wine on a lark.

When he came back, he told me the wine I had chosen was non-aromatic and said, “It’s very nice if you pretend like it is” and walked away.

Gee, thanks for the inspiring description of the $18 glass of wine I just purchased.

This isn’t the first time I’ve dined at a restaurant with a dedicated sommelier but it is the first time I’ve been made to feel foolish because of what I ordered.

Great service, forgettable food. Cramped and loud

Always such a refined (but never fussy) dining experience… a real pleasure again and again.

Stumbled upon this little restaurant while walking in the neighborhood. Very happy we did. Ordered striped bass and duck; both dishes were exquisite. Very friendly service. It was nice outside. Inside was a little loud. This was a wonderful surprise for our special anniversary.

Nearly a decade old, King still reigns supreme in West Village. Order the chicken!

They have a new menu everyday. The pasta and the sirloin were excellent.

This was my first time at King, which came as a recommendation from a friend.

The quality of the ingredients, seasoning, temperature, presentation, and—of course—taste were all truly outstanding , as was the service.

It’s comforting to know that there are still restaurants that take pride in what they do and love doing it well; that ia abundantly clear at King. The staff seems committed to what they do.

The cocktail and wine list are sophisticated, as are all dishes in their presentation and combination of flavors.

We especially enjoyed the wild striped bass with coco-blanc and the Montauk shrimp appetizer; they were truly perfect.

I’ll have to go back and try the other items on the menu but feel confident they’ll be just as delicious.

Servers were kind and helpful but overloaded and slow.
Food was interesting and tasty but expensive for the portions.
Our table neighbors let their dog bark away under the table, and we were seated in a noisy high traffic place. Might be better in the parklet, where we had hoped to have a more intimate dinner for our anniversary.
Overall expensive and underwhelmed.

Beautiful restaurant and incredible food. Drinks were also gorgeous and good. The service was a little slow as we had to flag our waitress down multiple times for more drinks but overall a great experience.

After spending the whole day at a conference all about great hospitality, we thought we had to end it with exactly that. We were all blown away by the service, the food, the drinks and overall warm welcome we received from every member of the staff. Our server, Austin, was knowledgeable and attentive. Chase was a pleasure to talk to as well as the manager that was making her way around. Thank you all for a memorable meal ?

very good. had the fried chickpea appetizer, the scallops and the steak. only food complaint is that the portion of the steak was extremely small for $48. maybe 6oz? i split all the dishes and we each had 1.5 of thin slices. service very good but they kept trying to take our plates away.

Terrific food; abysmal, thoughtless service. Reserved a 2-top for a birthday and not only were we squeezed into the worst table in the restaurant, but were basically ignored for the entire meal. Disappointing.

The meal I had at King lives rent free in my head rolling around on my tongue and titillating my tastebuds. ??

Special highlights were the vitello tonnato (sliced veal with egg + anchovy) and panisse (chickpea flour fritters). So, so good!!

Very attentive and lovely staff. And I appreciated that when I showed up 10 mins before my reservation, they seated me even though my friend wasn't there yet. It always feels so inhospitable when a restaurant is totally empty but you can't be seated until your full party is present.

The tables are a little close together but otherwise it's lovely inside.
