Not every restaurant puts their best foot forward for restaurant week. Not the case here! Every bite was delightful, service was attentive and we emerged from our meal feeling refreshed and transported. A one hour meal felt like a vacation! My husband’s birthday was acknowledged with a sublime scoop of ginger ice cream. The meal was delightful from start to finish! Thank you!

This was a truly memorable experience. My partner and I were lucky enough to be a part of the 9pm seating where we were one on one with the chef. The variety and quality of the dishes were genuinely top tier, and the menu was meticulously crafted to demonstrate the quality of each cut of fish. The creativity, and the skill required to execute, resulted in a meal I cannot stop thinking about. The chef was also obviously proud of his work and was eager to discuss his craft, something I was extremely grateful for. He even brought out a tuna loin to prepare as we munched on a matcha ice cream and lemon soju. It is impossible to choose only a few of the dishes to highlight, but some of the less common fish such as Sea Bream, Mackerel and Sable Fish were genuinely the best I've ever had. The service staff were perfectly attentive while still remaining in the background, which allowed the atmosphere to really shine. I'm grateful that I stumbled upon this restaurant and I cannot wait to go back for another experience.

My recent omakase experience at Kintsugi was a complete disappointment. There is a no-late-entry rule, and meals are prepaid at reservation, so I arrived a little before my appointment time 1 p.m. However, I was made to wait outside until 1:35 p.m. because the chef had arrived late that morning, causing a backup of customers. While I understand that delays can happen, and this didn’t initially ruin my experience, what truly upset me was the lack of mutual respect and understanding throughout the meal.

Once the meal began, I noticed that the serving plate was placed too far from me. I moved it closer twice but always returned it to its original place after consuming each piece of sushi. Despite this, I was told not to move it again. Feeling uneasy, I requested a small plate to keep in front of me, hoping to enjoy the sushi without worrying that the rice would fall off. Instead of accommodating this simple request, I was met with a condescending lecture on how I should be eating with both of my hands, making the experience even more unpleasant and uncomfortable.

The meal itself was unremarkable. The rice was soggy, and the sushi was overly drenched in soy sauce, overpowering any subtle flavors. To make matters worse, the pace felt rushed—despite the late start, the entire meal was over in less than an hour, with all customers “politely” asked to leave by 2:27 PM. Ironically, the best part of the meal was the soup served at the end—it was the one thing I genuinely enjoyed.

The atmosphere was cold, both in temperature and in service, adding to my dissatisfaction. The chef even argued that my request for a small plate would only be granted at other restaurants because those chefs "don’t care about omakase." In my experience, both in the States and Japan, the experience is as important as the food in an omakase meal. However, this chef’s disrespectful attitude was a major letdown. There was no meaningful interaction with any of the customers—not just me; the chef merely informed us of the fish and its origin, with no further engagement.

I won’t be returning, and I certainly can’t recommend this place to anyone seeking an authentic omakase sushi experience.

Went here for our anniversary dinner date it was such a cute little place for great omakase. Food was amazing and fresh, chef was also very knowledgeable and passionate. Hopefully we will be able to visit another time! Don’t trust one star reviews for here.

Your usual counter only NYC omakase restaurant. Restaurant week menu is excellent value ($60 for 12 courses) compared to their usual menu.

The restaurant week menu included chutoro and negitoro, had Hokkaido not been under extreme weather uni would have been one of the courses as well, I think we got a snapper as replacement.

I really enjoyed this meal.
I did not realize it was restaurant week when we wanted to come, which was an abbreviated version of their traditional omakase meal.
Over all we had 10 offerings.
The chef was excellent at preparation and presentation.
The staff was attentive and wonderful and kind.

I do wish I had not been there for restaurant week. I felt the meal should have been longer with more conversation between the chef and the customers and it felt Ike there was constantly a time crunch. It was very awkward and quiet in the restaurant during service as you could tell if was most peoples first and only time at an omakase style meal
Both of which I attribute to being restaurant week.

Overall I enjoyed myself and would return and recommend it to others

The dining experience was very in tense for me. I’m not even sure how to talk about the food because of the pressure I felt.

The chef lectures the customer in a very confronting way. I respect the rules/culture of omakase but I think the situation could definitely be handled better. The restaurant presents a very privileged view about omakase, but I am just a customer not professional. I shouldn’t felt being so judged. I am very happy to learn all about omakase if the restaurant could tell us all about it instead of literally stating what they DO NOT accept the customers to do.

Despite the reservation said no late entry, we waited outside with the restaurant door locked and entered 10-15 minutes after the reservation time.

The chef publicly cyberbully my account and encourage followers to social engineer me.

Here’s the story:

The chef said in a very condescending tone that if I don’t eat rice that would be rude to him and he refused to serve me the remaining courses that I already PREPAID for.

Why should I be forced to eat something I do NOT like just to show respect to your ego?

The intention of dining out is NOT to please the chef. I’m here to please MYSELF.

Yes I know there’s a sign saying that “less rice” cannot be accommodated, but I never asked for those accommodations. You reserve the right of what to serve, and I reserve the right of what to eat. And I am allowed to have personal preference by law, so please don’t put your standards on me.

They also won’t serve you food if you move your plate. They just intentionally skip you without telling you why. Next time please put that rule on your announcement too.

Also they don’t have serving plate, not even if you ask for it. Good luck using chopstick to fetch food from a very far plate without dropping food all over. Yeah, put the chopstick training or hand eating on your prerequisite too.

The fish is not fresh at all. I was so afraid to point that out. Of the whole time, I live in the fear. If I showed any sign of dislike, the chef would skip my course.

Since you are so bad at taking constructive feedbacks, I do feel the responsibility to compliment on your restroom. The toilet paper is high quality, strong enough to hold my vomit of all the unpleasant rice.

P.S. attaching comments from chef’s public social media, for those who don’t understand, yes the chef is fluent in Chinese and I’ll help translate in family friendly English: sour rice is high end, I have zero customer obsession. If you don’t like it, get out of the door and go somewhere else cheap.

The chef post my personal information on public social media with malicious comments and biased accusation. So is this your solution? To publicly humiliate anyone who doesn’t like your attitude?

I was whispering with friends about why there’s no female sushi chef and I read the first article that pops up in Google saying that women’s period would contaminate food which I find it’s nonsense cuz male has body parts too. And the chef used the keyword “male body parts” to publicly shamed me. I got lots of dms calling me “stinky lady parts”

Unfortunately cannot write anything about the food since I was unable to dine here. Booked a reservation via Open Table for my sister's birthday and paid the omakase fee including tax + 18% gratuity to complete the reservation. Arrived at the restaurant and was informed they double booked and was unable to seat us. Sometimes things are out of a restaurant's control, but the way the staff handled the situation was not acceptable.

The staff at the restaurant said there was nothing they could do and directed the manager to call us personally. The manager was extremely rude and did not offer any type of solution other than returning at 9PM (reservation was for 5PM). "I don't know I just got off a flight" and responding "Well Happy Birthday then" after we stated we specifically booked this place to celebrate left an unpleasant experience. We still have not received a refund for the omakase deposit.

Steer clear if you are looking for a friendly, high service experience (which $$$$ should get you).

The shop privately disclosed customer information and carried out personal attacks on the customer. Not only do you have to pay for food and tips, but the shop also lectures you, scolds you, and defames you with vulgar language on social media.
