Good food for the price you pay, but way too slow, we had to rush out as we had an appointment after waiting more than half an hour for a few pieces of sushi.
Very good place. Sashimi was fresh and delicious . Big slice.

This is a place offering all you can eat from a chosen selection, including handrolls. The quality of sushi is decent and the options are also enough. If you want, they also have options off the sushi path, like teriyaki and ramen. One thing I didn't like too much was the nori on the handrolls already losing their crisp when they reach the table. But that is how it is when preparing a whole plate rather than bite by bite like an omakase.
Servers were sparse but it was quiet when I went, so that is understandable. The waiter comes periodically to clear plates and take the next round of sushi orders since we got all you can eat for a table.
Interior decor isn't too out there, being cozy and wooden. The layout is interesting, with a front section fenced off. Nothing too eye-popping.
For this area, they offer a good lunch special if you're just stopping by.

Popped in with two other people to enjoy their all you can eat sushi. The service was great. The sushi was great. They absolutely did not skimp on the portion sizes for the sushi like other ayce places may do.

I was seeing a show in the area at the Beacon Theatre, so I dropped in here for a quick dinner before. I only ordered rolls to keep dinner fast. The spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls I got were both pretty fishy and mediocre, which was disappointing. The miso soup was good and the sake I ordered was delicious. But the biggest issue I had was near the end of my meal, a roach crawled across my table and under my clear sushi platter. Yikes. I scooted my chair back quickly to make sure it didn’t crawl on me and that startled a couple dining across from me. I quickly brushed it off onto the floor and then the waiter walked into our area and saw it on the floor and stepped on it without saying anything. I got my check and left.
UPDATE 9-24-25: Sorry to say the quality of the raw fish here has gone down over the past several months. I still like the shrimp tempura roll, but is it worth going here just for that? The quality of sushi was never top-notch, but it was good enough for the price. Clearly they are cutting corners, so I recommend going elsewhere.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I did not go into Kumo for many years, because it didn’t look appealing from the outside, and the inside appeared small and dingy. Well, never judge a book by its cover. The sushi happens to be good here! It’s not great, mind you. You will not say “Wow, that’s the best, freshest, melt-in-your-mouth sushi I’ve ever had,” but you will be satisfied and feel that you got good value for your money.
Prices are reasonable and the menu selection is excellent. They even have good drinks. For dessert, the tempura green tea ice cream is awesome!
In particular, I’m really impressed with the service. Five stars on that. We almost always have the same woman, who is extremely courteous, conscientious, and gets our order right every time. She is often the only server there, and manages to keep her cool even when super busy. The one time we went and she was on vacation, service was not very good, and the sushi wasn’t as good either.

Sushi/Nigiri Portions are large and good for the price. Rolls are offered for as low as 6 dollars.

AYCE not worth at all. When you read the oder comments on the amount of rice you think it can't be that bad - it is a mountain of rice. Looked like we were bothering him to ask for a 2nd repetition, space is dead too.

Prices and food are good. The service is a little slow but it's usually just one person serving all the tables. If you tell them you're in a rush they can get you in and out quickly. I like that it's not crowded and you can always get a seat.

We did the All You Can Eat Sushi. Choices were plentiful, and the good was delicious. We made a reservation but there were still a lot of tables available. Staff was nice and courteous. They refilled our water and tea often. They checked up on us also.

I love this place. When I lived in NYC I would go here at least 2 or 3 times a week for my lunch break. It's nice and quiet, the service is excellent, friendly servers there. The food was reasonably priced and the food is my favorite sushi spot. They knew my order the moment they saw me. On my day off from work, I even took my mom here for a lunch date. This place is awesome.
