They changed recipe totally. It was inedible. Noodles are thick and hard, soup toooooo oily, pork supposed to be slices but it’s actually chops!!! Will never have it again! What a shame it used to be my go-to lunch spot…

"Kuro-Obi Signature Ramen" falls short of expectations. The broth is overly oily, and the overcooked bean sprouts lack texture. While the portion of pork is decent, it doesn’t justify the high price. The noodles don’t feel authentically Japanese, likely influenced by its Manhattan location. The dish lacks umami and depth, making it a disappointing experience compared to brands like Ippudo.
Beyond taste, the visual presentation was underwhelming, with nothing appealing or noteworthy. The excessive oiliness left an unpleasant aftereffect on my tummy and tongue. Overall, I wouldn’t return and will look for better Japanese food elsewhere."*

Worst bowl of "ramen" ever. Had thd pork ramen and it was inedible. Soup had a top layer of cold lard oil that turned my stomach, and the two slices of pork were cold. Ramen was bland and mixed w bean sprouts. A sham of a ramen place, sad for any possible association w Ippudo...

The worst ramen I’ve ever had. This place used to be amazing until just before Christmas, but since the management changed, it’s gone completely downhill. The food is now inedible.
The menu has no variety left, offering only 2-3 basic ingredients. The soup is a greasy mess, and the noodles have a horrible taste. Everything has changed, and it’s now the worst ramen I’ve ever eaten in my life.
I strongly recommend avoiding this place at all costs. Even the awful smell that lingers from this restaurant in the multi-restaurant venue is enough to warn you about the low quality of the food.

One star for the speed. The noodles were not bad but the broth was disgusting. You can visually see water and the rest of the broth in layers and there were cubes of meat fats floating. I chose pork as the protein and the two slides placed on top of the ramen were cold, had to dip them into the broth to warm up. My stomach felt horrible the whole afternoon. If you have another choice, please treat yourself something better.

What happened? This went from my favorite ramen to the worst ramen ever. I am struggling to even eat it. Did it change owners? 😢
And the price went up by $2

What a shame. This place used to be good, but it is now the absolute worst. I hadn't been here in a couple of months and went there this past Tuesday. I ordered the Kuro Obi which is supposed to have creamy soup ramen, with springy zuzutto noodles, fragrant garlic oil, a dash of savory umami paste, scallions, kikurage mushrooms and sliced marinated pork chashu. I don't know why they changed the recipe, but i received the order with some other type of noodles, cabbage and bean sprouts. That's it. I ordered the ramen with pork soup and pork chashu (which hadn't been available for a long time). The soup was cold and just a bowl of grease and floating fat. You can see it in the pictures. It was absolutely disgusting. I couldn't return it because I went back to my office to eat. I will never go this place again and it was a weekly for me for a few years. Just yuck!

The food is OK. But it took 20 minutes to prepare a simple ramen, and the koisk broke and added more chaos.
During peak lunch hours there were only two female staff covering cashier, cooking and cleaning where at the peak there are 10+ orders. The owner of this business is so greedy, you should add more staff

Solid ramen, pork was cold. Broth was good. Price was average ~$17 for a bowl without add-on toppings. No napkins provided by the restaurant, but there are napkins all around the food court.

I am a regular here. All ingredients are fresh and high quality and I totally recommend this place for a decent Ramen. Aka Obi is their signature and everyone order that one. The only caveat is their soup is not proportionate to the ingredients so when you order a Ramen and add one or two additional toppings, the soup gets cold because the ingredients including meats, spinach, and bamboo shoots pre cooked and served cold. They should make their bowl a bit bigger and add more soup to it to serve Ramen hot.
