Celebrated my birthday. The staff were friendly. The service was excellent. The food and wine were delicious. Benny sat us at a great seat. La Mela came recommended from a friend. It did not disappoint.
I have been coming here for years and sadly it has not only become expensive considering how well priced it used to be, but it's also losing some of the charm. there are so many options now in Little Italy and I think definitely some with better value. The wine per glass is on the high side now and the food, albeit good, a little too rich. Just really not what this place used to be, so disappointing
Still great after all those years, had the veal parm which was amazing. XXXL portions! The pasta with tomato sauce is one of the best you ever had!
Wonderful little Italian spot. We ordered the chicken parm and rigatoni bolognese, and it was all delicious.

I had a great Aperol Spritz and the veal tortellini in Alfredo sauce which I chose over the Vodka sauce. We also had spaghetti carbonara, mushroom ravioli and they were 5 stars… my husband had spaghetti with meatballs and he complaint about the pasta quality, the watery red sauce and the tasteless meatballs…
Service was great
Ambiance… there is room for improvement

Food was average, pasta was mushy, carbonara was not very good. Calamari had little to no flavor. Chicken Marsala was very good, shrimp and chicken parm were excellent.
Worst pasta with worst service.
very rude server didn’t even came to table once to ask how’s food and all or for water than
Charging 20% gratitude automatically on a cheque when your service and food both were only tolerable.
Never coming again and don’t recommend this place. You can find better food with better service nearby.

Restaurantji Recommends
We had lunch here and the food was outstanding. We were able to sit outside on the sidewalk tables due to nice weather. It provided a great atmosphere. The sauce was amazing, the pasta was cooked to perfection, and the bread was freshly made. Several of the other restaurants on this street were very pushy, trying to get our business. That was a turn off and La Mela did not do that. It was more welcoming and that is appreciated by customers. I would recommend this place for sure.

Just a great spot for a great Italian meal..No chance of leaving this place without finding something delicious or god forbid not with a full belly, LaMela delivers in food quality and portion size. Had sidewalk seating and chatted it up with the Maitre D. He was informative on the menu and history and current affairs of the surrounding area. Just a great experience in Little Italy. Will DEFINITELY return

It was an authentic Italian experience! 5 of us split the calamari, caesar salad, ravioli, gnocchi and spaghetti. Anything with the tomato sauce was my favorite but the gnocchi was the table favorite! Each dish was fresh and so flavorful! Service was incredible. I asked for a nice Chianti and they chose one that was perfect. I look forward to going back next time I am in NYC!

It was wonderful. We sat on the sidewalk. We had a healthy pour of wine with amazing food (healthy portions) that we were happy to bring home for the next day. The service was incredible. Every time I come to New York I eat at La Melas! Thank you for the amazing experience.
