Chilaquiles were soupy, soggy, too spicy and downright awful.

I usually bring lunch from home whenever I'm working in Midtown, but I occasionally grab food from some of the eateries in the area. It goes without saying that the variety is abundant, and one of the spots that contributes to that is Urbanspace. I find myself drawn here due to the sheer variety of cuisines available, and while here the other day looking for lunch, I decided to try out La Palapa for some Mexican. Like all the other vendors in Urbanspace, La Palapa is a walk-up restaurant that offers meals mainly to go. They have a variety of Mexican dishes, but the star of their menu is tacos. There are a few to choose from, and they offer them as combo meals paired with chips and guac or other items. My eyes drew to the three taco combo - I decided on that and chose a chicken, a chorizo, and a pork taco. The tacos were good - they were bigger than I expected and I probably could have had two and been satisfied (not that I let that third one go to waste - I'm no quitter). The chips and guac that came with the meal were nothing outstanding but not bad either. Service was fast and friendly, and overall I had a good experience at LaPalapta. The tacos were high quality, they didn't skimp on the fillings, and everything was tasty. I would definitely return here next time I find myself in Urbanspace.

The only reason I am not giving this place 5 stars it's because I think they need better variations on their beverages (both alcoholic and non), but the TACOS?! Absolutely superb. Clean, not greasy, good quality, flavor...do yourself a flavor and visit this place regularly.

Stopped on for lunch the carne asada quesadilla was so good. The shrimp taco was sad. Would definitely eat here again. Truly loved the horchata iced coffee!

Let me tell you, La Palapa Taco Bar was simply cool. Flavorful menu items and outstanding service. Every thing we had here was excellent. The team was really friendly and service is great. La Palapa Taco Bar... What a great find.

Pretty disappointing. The brisket taco was BLAND and the side salad was literally a few pieces of lettuce, some radish and pico de gallo (but not a lot). Good thing I got chicken on top of it because it wouldn’t have filled me up. Also quite expensive so definitely not worth it. Why is it so hard to find a decent taco in NYC? Smfh

A palapa is an open hut with a palm-thatched roof. I assume the place is named for that because it is the only house you would be able to afford after purchasing food from this place. The tacos are delicious with different spice rubs and marinades for each meat, and double wrapped in traditional tortillas. But 5-6 dollars plus tax per taco is pushing it even for Manhattan.

All the vegetarian tacos were amazing. This is my go to spot for quick take out in mid Town.

$15 for quesadilla the size of two tacos!Growing up in the 90s, Taco Bell was part of my diet (before I learned about the sand additive, which they have subsequently taken out). I didn’t like their tacos much, but their quesadillas was quite fulfilling. A large, soft tortilla filled with beef and cheese folded in 1/2 and cut into slices like pizza. It brings back fond memories for me just typing it out, even though I would be extremely disappointed if I have one today. So when I saw this place serving quesadillas with al pastor style meat, I couldn’t resist, even if it cost $15 before taxes. I know, midtown lunch prices has gone up quite a bit since I left my previous job back in 2016, but at $15, they better be on their game. They were not. If putting cheese on tacos lets you call them quesadillas, then at least have the decency to put up a picture of how it looks like. But nope, that’s nowhere to be found at their stall. Never coming back.

Meh. The avocado taco was mostly corn & beans with a thin slice of avocado. Brisket taco was very disappointing, unseasoned, & bland. Likely the worst brisket taco I've had. Go to Los Tacos 1 instead.

They said nothing when I picked up my order. Just placed it in my hand. They weren't busy at all. The breakfast burrito was good, not great. 8% egg. A breakfast burrito should have at least 20% egg. It was tasty, service was non-existent, egg was lacking, tomato was watery. Decent not great.
