We had a mid afternoon lunch, chicken salad had too much dressing on arugula, Caesar Salad the romaine was damp. The server did not ask if we wanted pepper on salad or more water, had to get someone’s attention. In addition not a fan of large portions but not even a piece of bread for a $102.00 tab plus tip.
We’ve been coming to Le Charlot for the last five years, and it continues to be one of our favorite no-frills spots on the Upper East Side. It’s exactly what you’d expect from a casual bistro—nothing over the top, just solid, satisfying French food in a cozy setting.

We had a fantastic dinner at Le Charlot. This was our second visit to Le Charlot and it did not disappoint. The ambiance was warm, with just the right amount of lively energy. For our main courses, we enjoyed the salmon, halibut, and moules marinière — all beautifully prepared and full of flavor. The fish was perfectly cooked, and the mussels came in a fragrant broth that begged for more bread to soak...
