The Steak Au Poivre was delicious. I especially liked that when we told the waiter that my wife and I were splitting one, they cut the steak in half for us, and served it on 2 different plates that looked like they could have been normal portions. This is a classic upper east side french bistro. Everything was delicious, including the frisee salad.
The service was excellent. The food was amazing as well. Have been coming here for years and have certainly seen my fair share of pretentious behavior from staff but that seems to have abated making for a great experience.
It’s really nice to be “en terrasse”, which is a great ambiance, especially in summer.
I don’t think the food is very good, and there are definitely better French restaurants in New York. Every dish was either over cooked or dry or under seasoned unfortunately. The waiter wasn’t particularly friendly either.
They do include 20% tip already on your bill but then come back with a pen for the receipt so make sure you don’t accidentally double tip.
