They demand a credit card for reservations for groups larger than 2... but the restaurant was literally empty when we got there. Food and service were both fantastic. But the restaurant seems a little pretentious. And despite telling the server early on that we had 8pm theater tickets, we weren't finished until about 7:45. Also they only split the bill on up to two cards- which also seems silly when they do it right at the table now.
The steak was quite good, but the branzino not totally not fresh which ruined the whole birthday dinner with my daughter, and the worse thing is the waiter insisted their material was hundred percent fresh. No apologies, no change and we still need to pay the whole bill. We will definitely not visit this restaurant again
My wife and I saw a Broadway play this Sunday and afterwards had dinner at Le Prive. Le Prive s a cozy French bistro on 10th avenue in Hell's Kitchen. The restaurant has outdoor seating, bar seating and full bar service. We began with their take on coquilles st. jacques. Scallops over a pea puree was delicious. The scallops were seared perfectly. We also shared a salad of mixed greens, almonds, apples, fennel and mushrooms. The salad was large with very fresh ingredients.
The French Onion Soup tasted like Campbell’s Tomato Soup with some melted cheese over stale bread. The Garden Salad was flavorless. The duck was Meh… The Pinot Noir was of the Ripple variety. They only have Americano coffee, and no decaf. How this place has remained in business for five years must be due to the delightful wait staff and the outdoor seating that is perfect for people watching.
I’ve been to this place twice now and I’m very confused as to why it isn’t totally packed out because it is absolute ?. Literally too. They take out the blow torch to melt the butter on your filet. The staff are all super friendly. The food is always delicious. It feels like a hidden gem and you should definitely come here and get your French on.
Everything about this restaurant was wonderful, our waiter was so friendly and knowledgeable! The food was incredible and was like being back at a Paris cafe! Will definitely be back!!!
My wife and I enjoyed a nice Monday evening meal outside as Inside was on the noisy side. Excellent Branzino and Bouillabaisse entrees! Service was excellent. Very enjoyable dinner and dining experience.
This was a perfect restaurant to have a peaceful and delicious meal with my mom. The service was attentive and the food great. Good find in the theater district. Will definitely go back.
we sat outside, which was very pleasant. and the food was delicious -- I had the lamb sausage (aka merguez), my husband had the steak frites...the steak was tasty, the frites were a little soggy. but overall a fine dinner.
Stopped in for a late dinner last night as I was walking through Manhattan. I had a lovely time. The service was excellent, the food superb, I had the escargot for an appetizer and then followed with the steak frittes. To finish I had the creme brulee and latte. The service was excellent. I think I already said that. But it was. I would go back for sure.

Le Prive hosted a surprise brunch party for 18 guests on a Saturday morning and it couldn’t have gone better. For the weeks leading up to the event they were immediately responsive to emails and helped accommodate multiple requests. On the day of the event, the wait staff was prompt, courteous, and friendly (which was even more impressive given the size of our party). They let us show up before the restaurant opened to choose our location (outside or inside) and decorate it with balloons/happy birthday sign. Plus, I forgot to bring candles for the cake and Le Prive went above and beyond and graciously provided sparklers for a celebratory touch. The cocktail menu is creative and has plenty of options. The food was praised by everyone in attendance. Will definitely be back for a regular meal, and if you’re looking for somewhere to host a large party, Le Prive has to be a top choice
Wow! What a gorgeous experience. I took my mom to Le Prive for her birthday dinner when she was visiting me. We were greeted immediately by the friendly staff and seated in the most beautiful space. The waiter was exceptionally knowledgeable when it came to the wine list as well as the food menu. This was truly an authentic and unique dining experience. Service was out of this world and they made my mom feel so special by singing her happy birthday in French! Such a beautiful ambiance. They have an outdoor garden space that we can’t wait to have brunch in soon!! Can’t wait to come back!
My sister-in-law and my nephew are in town. I wanted to take them to a nice restaurant that I've frequently visited. Unfortunately it was a disaster in every way tonight. There was at least 2 other tables complaining about the lack of service. We were waiting 40 minutes for our entree before our server came back to ask us if we wanted dessert! I said we haven't gotten our food yet. Then she came back when it's all over and the temperature of our steaks were wrong. She cleared our plates and asked if we wanted the check. After waiting another 25 minutes I got up and asked if they just want us to leave. The manager asked for us to hang on to see if he can do anything for us, but he never came back to us either. Just awful!
We needed to reduce our reservation from a party of four to a party of two, when our guests tested positive for COVID. Our new table was dreadful--next to the main entrance, literally one foot away--on a cold and rainy night in mid-May (go figure). After consulting the manager, we were moved to a lovely table across from the bar. The server was excellent--attentive and with a sense of humor. The food was delicious: Coquilles Saint-Jacques, duck breast, and fillet mignon. And the music was perfectly French--Patricia Kaas! Would certainly recommend for a great French meal in Hell's Kitchen.
We had Saturday brunch out in the back garden. It was a lovely setting and a very good meal. Two of us had tartines that were overflowing with smoked salmon, the other one had a delicious omelet. The service was spot on and all of the servers were happy and smiley. We were extremely pleased with the food, service and garden ambiance and will definitely return. Le Prive is a good brunch/lunch alternative before a matinee.
