Just go. We are out-of-towners. Made the reservation (set an alarm) and everything was fantastic. Start to finish. The atmosphere is pure hospitality and good cheer. Our table wasn't ready, but we waited 5 minutes or less at the bar. The bartender put on a complete show and the cocktails were, well, just what anybody wants in a well-cratfted, well-made drink. When seated our waiter had spent time in our home town and we bonded. I loved how there was no rush, complete explanation...
I finally made it to Le Veau d’Or and it was lovely. The ambiance/vibe was just perfect in an authentic way. I’m sure every detail is meticulously chosen, but it felt authentic and natural.
The food was so good and I’m already hoping to come back to try more items in the menu. Standouts were the bread (duh), petit omelet, steak frites, tomato salad, strawberry shortcake like dessert and my dirty martini.

Charming spot with mostly good food. I liked the Salade Tomate and the Salade Homard very much. I didn’t like the pace of the meal - an hour and a half lunch for two courses. I also question the pricing. $85++ for two courses and the lobster salad had a $15 up charge so $100 for two salads.
