The best cookies on Earth. No exaggeration here. The cookies are crispy on the edges and hot and soft im the center. My personal favorite is the chocolate chip walnut cookie. They also sell various breads (Which I haven’t tried).

"These cookies are absolutely divine! The freshly introduced Lemon Cookie this season is truly heavenly. We indulged in a Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie and a Double Chocolate Chip Cookie, both outstanding. Each dessert was expertly baked, featuring a crunchy outer layer and a tender, moist inside. The flavors harmonized beautifully. The atmosphere was delightful, adorned with charming decor and comfortable indoor seating. The staff greeted us warmly and were exceptionally kind, providing impeccable service with sincere smiles. I'm eagerly looking forward to returning for more of these delightful indulgences!"

On a recent trip to NYC, I had a short list of "musts" and Levain was near the top. After we ventured from our hotel near Central Park South down to Greenwich Village for pizza, I knew we were walking distance to Levain... so cookies were imminent! I've heard about the lines, the wait, the crowds... but I was pleasantly surprised on this midweek late evening that there was only a short line and we were attended to quickly.
As a first timer, I knew I had to try the Chocolate Chip Walnut... but I was quickly swayed by the Caramel Coconut Chocolate Chip... so I got both. I can't tell you how much I spent on the two cookies, because it didn't matter. We lucked out with finding bar stools in the shop, and dove right into the Chocolate Chip Walnut... easily split between two people. As a bit of a cookie aficionado, I can say it was everything I was hoping it would be. It was perfection in cookie form. We saved the Caramel Coconut Chocolate Chip for a next-day-hotel-treat, and it was giving Girl Scout Samoa while still being soft & chewy inside.
In terms of the bakery itself, it would have been nice if there were more seating (my tired tourist feet!) but I understand that's not really the priority or vibe of NYC.
There are only two Levain Bakeries in California, at the opposite end of the state from where I live... and that's probably for the best. These sweet treats could easily become a habit if they were more accessible!

Chocolate chip walnut cookies are some of the best cookies we’ve ever had! Their butter & jam bagels were super fresh and delicious! The prices are very reasonable too. A must try in NY.

Terrible service. Not enough servers. One coffee at a time just doesn’t cut it. Wake up your staff or get new ones.
I waited 20 minutes on line to buy gift cards only to be told they don’t have any. Not a sign posted to avoid waiting on line! Unbelievable!!
super delicious cookies and also excellent cup of coffee. the service was also very nice!

Levain Bakery is a delightful spot in New York City! The place is absolutely charming, with a cozy décor and unique touches like postcards featuring maps of the neighborhoods where they are located. But the real highlight is the cookies: they are absolutely incredible! Huge, soft on the inside, perfectly crispy on the outside, and full of flavors that are simply unforgettable. A must-visit place for anyone in NYC.

Delicious cookies, a true New York classic, my personal fave is the chocolate peanut butter cookie. Definitely big enough to share with someone, very rich and not overly sweet

Good cookies
Such a lovely morning experience with the staff and phenomenally delicious cookies that I'm still dreaming about 😋 The young woman who took my order was cheerful and patient while I looked through the case and made my decisions. She carefully selected and wrapped my little treasures and offered me a bag. The gentleman who made my flat white was singing along to the awesome playlist and that made me smile ☺️

Nice place, it's more for eating something quick or buying takeout, quick service and delicious cookies. The best in my opinion is the original walnuts and chocolate chips.

What can I say—the cookie never disappoints. Soft in the middle, filled with a lot of semi-sweet chocolate. I’m not even a big chocolate fan but this cookie is worth the line I waited in.
