Just want to say thank you to the sweet owners and staff for providing lunch and dinner to me everyday. I started coming to the hot bar instead of takeout from other places in the area and it’s changed my life. Love the lentil black bean casserole! So nice to know I’m eating healthy, organic and simple ingredient meals that I don’t have to question. I also do my grocery shopping here but don’t sleep on the fresh food each day at the hot bar. Support a family owned business!
I’ve been a customer here for years, always stopping by after my shifts, always buying cakes and other items. Unfortunately, the friendliness and customer service that once set this place apart have declined drastically.
Today was the last straw. I purchased a Neapolitan cake and forgot to ask for a bag. Since I was taking the train, I went back and politely asked for one. The elderly woman at the counter told me, rudely that it would be 25 cents. I said “no problem” and was happy to pay. But then she added more attitude, telling me she couldn’t charge me because there’s a $2 minimum on the machine. Instead of handling it with basic courtesy, she turned it into a scene, making me feel disrespected over something as simple as a bag.
I’ve supported this place for a lifetime, but I won’t be returning. Customer service is about respect, not just transactions. If you can’t treat loyal customers with dignity over something as small as 25 cents, you don’t deserve their business!
Amazing groceries and both vegan and non vegan healthy prepared food. Love it!
Place is totally unhygienic -- freezers are always breaking down, flooring is torn up and cracked, dust accumulated all over. It's not a safe place to store food. Often food I buy here is spoiled or expired.
Amazing customer service, responded immediately and provided me with information about an uncommon product other stores couldn't. They have one of the best selections of healthy food options available. Couldn't recommend more and wish I lived closer!
This is a charmed place. Stellar, kind, and knowledgeable staff, and a pretty comprehensive supplements section. Not enough of these stores exist anymore. Go to them instead of Whole Foods—it’ll be much better for you in quality, experience, and service, and you won’t be feeding a big corporation that has snuck all sorts of things into “healthy foods.”
Underrated gem! And you don’t say that often anymore, in the Village. By far, they have the best selection of real healthy/ sustainable brands, at the most reasonable prices. Also really delicious & clean premade food items in the lunch hot bar. You can just tell it’s run with care and love by the employees and mgmt team. Any time I’m sick I come in here and ask for their recommendations on the best supplements and natural medicines…and they’ve never led me astray!
Thank you for caring enough to stock milk that is the trifecta: organic+nonUHP+grassfed. There is only one dairy farmer in the area with all three standards, and you sell their product. None of the chain stores in NYC carry it, but you do. Thank you, I come from Queens because of this.
Joe is the best - he knows every vitamin and supplement under the sun.
Lots of choice
Very good soup
Convenient to eat on site
Restaurantji Recommends
Exceptional as always.
Ok I guess
Very clean organized store.Staff is helpful when needed.
Cafe section is a mess. Homeless people sitting in the cafe for hours every day with tons of bags taking up table space. People blatantly eating food from the food bar without paying. One day a giant metal Amazon package cabinet toppled over into the seating area…someone could have been seriously injured. Bathrooms are gross and always have a long line. And the food bar here is expensive! They should provide a better experience. This location would do a lot more business if they solved these problems.
I called several times tonight to check on an item in the meat section. I was on hold for 10-15 mins twice. I was told no one is picking up the call.
I walked over to the store to buy the item, and there are 3 men behind the meat counter. 2 of them talking about personal matters. One on his phone. Yet, they didn’t pick up the phone. And of course, item was not in stock. It was a wasted trip that could have been avoided if they answered their calls like Trader Joe’s does. Perhaps, TJ should start training whole food’s crew. What a shame.
Over the years, quality of this store has taken a nose dive. Poor management. No wonder Whole Foods is one of Amazon’s lowest margin business. There is zero accountability. AVOID this location.
