The restaurant is within a very extravagantly designed building in Lincoln Center. The dinning room is large and interesting. The booth tables are a bit oddly organized for seating, but manageable. My dinner was quite interesting and very good. Service was friendly if a bit awkward at times. Prices are substantial.
Three years ago, I overheard the people sitting next to me ask what gluten-free dishes are available and the Server said none. The customer replied.” we travel all over the world, and this is the first restaurant to say that.” I am now gluten sensitive, and I have to say it is the only restaurant of fine dining where I have encountered this problem. I wound up having two appetizers for my dinner. It is not a difficult accommodation and I think the chef should get with the program.
My dish was more like a stew and my friend's tortolini was only five small pieces- not enough value in the food to return . Service was over attentive at first then slow to pay the check.
Outstanding restaurant with beautiful atmosphere overlooking Lincoln Center. The food was exceptional on our recent visit with a new chef having started just a few weeks prior. Rissotto special was on of the best I've ever had. Can't wait to go back!
The pastas were amazing and the steak incredible. Mario's drinks as always are the best in town
The server helpfully suggested we share the chicory salad because of its generous size. This was an excellent suggestion and the salad was instant tasty. We opted for the focaccia which included figs as a special treat. For entree were both selected pasta. One was a boar Ragu and the other rabbit. Both were well flavored and presented. For dessert we both ordered the chocolate Torino, which included hazelnut ice cream. It was a delicious end to the meal. The issue was the distraction experience by our server as the restaurant filled . He was originally quite attentive.
Mediocre food in a lovely & sophisticated space, an outstanding location for Lincoln Center event
Helpful and friendly host and waitstaff. Waiters knowledgeable about menu and drinks. Conscious of pacing to insure departure time for subsequent theater.
The ambience and setting are very nice. Honestly, the food was mediocre. We had the frito misto, chicken, and eggplant Parmesan. Not that tasty or particularly well executed, especially for the price.
So disappointing! Booked this restaurant before going to the Met Opera thinking we would enjoy a great meal and be close to the opera house. Arrived at 5.55pm for a 6.00pm reservation. We were asked if we had a show to see and told them we did and needed to leave by 7.45pm. The restaurant was pretty quiet when we arrived but it still took them 15 minutes to get our cocktails. When they did arrive one had to sent back because it was wrong. Service was either completely absent or when it did happen was very curt and rushed. We got our appetizers at 6.45pm which were good. Waited and waited until 7.30pm at which point we called the manager over to be told our entrees were just being plated! We said we did not want to gulp down an expensive meal and told him we were going to have to leave. We did not get a bill but that was the very least they could do as we all left for a 3 hour opera hungry. Very disappointing.

Terrible experience for a restaurant that is supposed to know how to work with guests going to a show!! For a 6:30 reservation we were sat at 7:05! The appetizer came quickly but the mains did not all make it by7:55 when we had to dash for the show. Ridiculous as the manager and the waiter knew that we had to leave by then. Ended up going to the show hungry, stressed and having to spend $25 for a salmon sandwich.
I made a reservation for 6:30 pm, approximately on month in advance. I had an 8:00 pm curtain at the Lincoln Center Theatre.) Although I arrived on time I had to wait 45 minutes before I was seated. I believe that the restaurant didn't want to seat me because I was dining alone, and that the manager preferred to give an available table to a party of two or more (which would result in a more sizable check.). During my wait, I was told I could eat outside - - a ridiculous offer given that it was a cold night. (Only one outside table was occupied and the customer was a woman dining, alone, in her coat.) The only other table I was offered during my 45 minute wait was a high-top table located not in the restaurant but next to the entrance, in the middle of a highly trafficked area by customers and servers. When I finally was seated, by an unpleasant waiter, I had to rush through dinner (I had my appetizer and main course served at the same time) in order to make it to the play on time. The host apologized by saying that the restaurant didn't expect so many people. This is a weak excuse as the point of a reservation system is to estimate how many walk-ins you can accommodate, and a restaurant should not seat a walk-in if it knows that the table is needed for a person who made a reservation. Forcing a customer with a reservation to wait 45 minutes for her table is very disrespectful. I would advise a customer who is planning to dine solo at a peak time to avoid this restaurant; having a reservation means nothing to this restaurant.
Part of the welcoming experience was the great, professional waiter we had who helped us with recommendations to construct a meal that was just right before going to a three-hour opera!
The service is excellent. The wait staff is professional and personable. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. I am looking forward to returning for another superb meal.
One of the best if not the best restaurant in NYC! Fantastic meal, attentive service and beautiful atmosphere! We celebrated my mom's birthday and everything was top notch!!
