The food is not bad, the service sucks!!! I didn't feel any Greek hospitality and they charge money for the tzatziki sauce, I've never seen that anywhere, it's a disgrace!!! I asked to take the remaining food to go, the waiter brought me containers and put them on the table. I asked if I should pack the food myself, he said yes. Did they think that it was not very convenient for me to do this? I will never go back.

Great place to have greek food. Their pita bread along with Tzatziki, Melitzanosalata, and Muhammara were amazing and a must try. Even the hummus is good. Chicken Souvlaki is delicious and the quantity is huge. Shrimp Orzo was a bit tangy but not bad. They have lot of options for wines with a great ambiance and offer indoor and outdoor sitting. They do welcome walk-ins for small parties. Service was great as well. Overall a great place to hangout with friends and a good date night place as well.

Service is awful, seating is terrible, but food in nice.

I made a reservation for me and my mom with very high expectations. It is my mom's first time visiting New York so every dinner has to be top of the top.

As we arrived, we were led to our table by the hostess and the first issue has risen. The table is simply too small to fit two people with their bags. We had usual hand bags, nothing extraordinary and there was literally no room to put it. We let it slide since it might happen sometimes and we understood that it might be a busy evening and tried not to inconvenience guests around us and staff.

After we were seated, a very rude server came up to us, and just by his looks I could see how uninterested and annoyed he looked. We asked for a few more minutes to choose which turned into 20 minutes of simply waiting for him to get back to us. After we asked for a few minutes, made our choice, we could not see our server so we asked the nearby member of staff to call him. It took him 20 minutes of hugging and chatting with guests (we saw him get the memo about us and do all of the above), to get to us. When we tried to order and mentioned a gluten allergy, I was looked at like a fool when i double checked whether my meal and a sharable was safe for me to eat. I always double check about cross contamination even when the food originally has no gluten in it.

We had to wait for our food for a normal time as in terms of a busy restaurant, and the food was honestly delicious. We were very pleased with it.

However here comes the best part. When we tried to pay for our food and mentioned twice that we are paying in cash, it took our server 10 minutes to come back with the bill and mind you it was not even a physical bill, it was the machine for card. When I asked how much I owe, he asked me how much tip I would like to add, I said that I would like to see the price first and decide then. I was met with a confusion and disgust because apparently you have to say the tip to get the bill. I worked in service industry and I always leave tips but this made me have a few questions. When I said that I do NOT want to leave tip, I was told that it is not the way and he doesn't have this option. When i said 10%, I was told yet again that he does not know how to do it so I opted for the lowest tip possible to do on the check (15%). After I tried to pay in cash (WHICH I MENTIONED TO HIM TWICE) I was told that they do not have change. When I was paying he was looking directly into my wallet telling me that I need to pay cent to cent. I gave to closest amount I could, I was told that he needs to go to the manager to grab change. We had to wait for another 10 minutes and even when he came back, he tried to give me less change than needed because they dis not have the right amount.

Overall experience was completely ruined by staff and even the food could not make it any better. Would not recommend this place ever and yet again, even the food couldn't help it.

The waiter was amazing, patient, and extremely helpful with recommendations. I enjoy Mediterranean food, but this was in a class by itself. All 3 of the spreads (Pikilia) were tasty, we really enjoyed the Tzatziki and the Muhamara. The true star for me was the Shrimp Orzo. The orzo and the shrimp were cooked perfectly and paired well in the leek and tomato sauce. My date let me have a bite of her Chicken Souvlaki which melts in your mouth and you can taste the freshness of the ingredients in the marinade. We will be coming back!

I visited Lola Taverna (with four others in my party) this past Sunday while visiting NYC for the holiday weekend and to celebrate a birthday. We were very excited to be seated on the patio on a beautiful night, so that was a plus... the rest of the experience left a lot to be desired though.

We waited at least 10 minutes to be greeted and once we were, we ordered a bottle of wine right away and asked if we could put in our food order since we'd already decided what we wanted. The server told us we could wait on food until he brought the bottle out. He brought the bottle out then scurried away pretty quickly so we didn't get a chance to order our food, but eventually flagged him down to place our order. The food was coursed out, which we expected; what we did not expect was that it would be coursed out over a 90 minute time frame, where we had to continue reminding the server we were missing items. In total we ordered 6 dishes, and one didn't even come out. Over this lengthy dining experience, our table was bussed once, and I found myself with a stack of dirty plates and silverware next to me at the end of the table while staff walked by.

A manager (I assume) did come to apologize for neglecting an item, which was nice. We had to once again flag down the server to ask for our check since the slow service impacted our plans to see a 10pm show. Before he brought the check though, he surprised us with a plate of yummy desserts, scoops of ice cream, and sparklers for the birthday girl we were out to celebrate. We did have to ask for spoons for the ice cream, which were never brought... looked pretty good though.

While the ice cream sat melting, we finally closed out the check and were shocked to learn that they charged us for the desserts that we did not order.

The food was pretty good and the ambience was beautiful, but the few dishes we ordered were overshadowed by what seems like an untrained, neglectful, and very frazzled staff.

Food did not taste very fresh. It tasted like it was pre-prepared and waiting to be served. Also came out kind of suspiciously fast. What was worse was the service. I felt that we were treated differently from the other patrons in a rude and racist way, especially by the host/manager staff. Will not be returning even though some of the food was salvageable.

First night in the city I grabbed dinner with some close friends at Lola’s Taverna. The restaurant had a great atmosphere with open doors/windows to the outdoors, and a very friendly staff. This is a great restaurant to go to with a small group of friends or family!

We ordered the Pikilia to start which comes with 3 dips of your choice and pita bread. The Kopanisti (whipped spicy feta) was my favorite. The Spanakopita Spring rolls were a great appetizer to share as well. The Lamb Keftedes came served over the most delicious red sauce and topped with picked red onions. My favorite dish of the night was the Shrimp Orzo. The buttered leeks and orzo paired amazingly with the shrimp which was cooked to perfection. The Chicken Souvlaki is a traditional Greek dish and perfect to share with everyone!
