The lunch atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed. Lord’s servers notice you immediately. Their workers showed cordiality, guidance, and clarity. They focus on quality ingredients and satisfying amounts. The experience here lacks nothing important.

Some restaurants whisper their sophistication. Lords announces it with heavy velvet curtains and makes no apologies. Step through that theatrical entrance and you're immediately transported somewhere that exists outside of time—part Victorian parlor, part downtown speakeasy, entirely committed to the romance of dining well.

Let's talk about those scotch eggs, because they deserve their own sonnet. These aren't your pub grub afterthoughts—they're architectural marvels of crispy breading, perfectly seasoned meat, and yolks so jammy they threaten to steal the show. Cut into one and watch that golden center ooze out like liquid gold. It's the kind of dish that makes you pause mid-conversation, fork suspended, wondering why you've been settling for lesser versions your entire life.
The oysters arrive like precious artifacts on ornate vintage china, nestled on smooth stones as if they're part of some elaborate ritual. Each one is topped with what tastes like a delicate ponzu and crispy garnishes that add just enough texture without overwhelming the briny sweetness beneath. They're pristine, cold, and exactly what you want when you're in the mood to feel fancy without the stuffiness.

And then there's the uni—silky, oceanic, draped over what appears to be crispy toast or potato, showered with fresh chives. It's rich without being heavy, elegant without trying too hard. The kind of dish that reminds you why simple preparations of quality ingredients will always win.

Even the salad refuses to be an afterthought. Peppery arugula piled high with paper-thin radishes and ribbons of citrus (persimmon?), dressed with the kind of restraint that lets each ingredient actually taste like itself. It's what salad should be—fresh, vibrant, and proof that vegetables can hold their own on a menu full of indulgences.

But the food is only part of the story. The space itself is a character: pressed tin ceiling catching candlelight, exposed brick walls, vintage floral plates that look like they were inherited from someone's impossibly chic European grandmother. Those velvet curtains at the entrance aren't just decor—they're a promise that something special awaits beyond them. The whole effect is moody, romantic, and just theatrical enough without tipping into parody.

The bottom line: Lords understands that dining out should feel like an occasion. It's not trying to be casual or approachable or any of those things that trendy restaurants claim to value. Instead, it leans fully into elegance, comfort, and the simple pleasure of eating beautiful food in a beautiful room. And honestly? That confidence is refreshing.

I don’t truly know what just happened to my mouth, but I’m certainly grateful. Shout out to weird sounding meals that taste unreasonably outstanding.

Dined here for a friend's birthday and everything tasted amazing! I personally enjoyed the proper english chips and their curried lamb scotch egg :) their chicken was nice and crispy with great flavor. Server was super helpful and answered all our questions on the spot in professional manner. I would recommend this place if you're in the mood to try delicious British food!

The kitchen created a perfect meal despite my many restrictions. The experience was worth looking forward to. Every item meets a good standard. The employees went beyond requirements many times. I stand behind this spot without doubt.

I was able to get a table without reservation but I dropped early to make sure I was able to try the burger ! The burger is really good, the pretzel bun is really soft and the meat premium

We couldn’t believe how flavorful and tasty everything was! Each dish was outstanding. One of our favorite meals in a while — surprisingly! We decided to come last minute, on a whim. Can’t wait to return

As a British person, I've got to say this is a pretty mediocre approximation of British gastropub food, designed I think for American and Chinese tourists. Like a Disneyland version.

Everything looks good but is poorly executed. The pie is dense and dry. The scotch egg is weird. The chips are just bad fish n chip shop stodge. Then they have this silly oh so exclusive burger seemingly designed to get the vacuous influencers in. I mean I guess it works because at 5pm on the dot you have a bunch of dense people lining up to take pictures of burger. The burger itself? Also dense, and greasy. I'd rather just have the rarebit.

Every time I’m in New York, I always come back here for the burger. It has an amazing vibe and friendly staff. A little disclaimer: For me, the place is kind of chilly, so do bring a sweater if you get cold quickly.
