We had a waiter that was extremely rude, sexist, provided zero service - and manager is nowhere to be found. I would give -1 star if I could.
The waiter was the tall skinny Asian male working between 7:07-8:05pm Feb 25. Hope they keeps this up and get more bad reviews.
Will update this review if management ever reach out asking for details, doubt it tho.

The food was fantastic, comforting, and deeply flavorful across the table. The standout dishes for me were the shredded pork, which was perfectly tender with just the right balance of heat and savoriness, and the mapo tofu, rich and numbing with that classic Sichuan mala kick. Everything felt thoughtfully cooked, not just spicy for the sake of it. Great textures, generous portions, and flavors that keep you going back for another bite. Definitely a spot I’d return to. Plenty of vegetarian options, their pan fried noodles were delicious as well.

Inconsistent portions and disappointing for the price. We ordered over $200 worth of food via DoorDash (4 mains and 2 appetizers), and we were shocked by the portion sizes. Having dined in before, we noticed these servings were about half or even one-third of what is usually served at the restaurant. It’s very disappointing to pay full price and receive significantly less food just because it’s a delivery order.

A very close authentic Sichuan restaurant with fragrant flavours.
Personally I’m not a massive fan of Sichuan pepper corns hidden in bites of food, and that’s been my weakness in Sichuan cooking. At Lunar, they’ve definitely toned down the spice and numbness of traditional Sichuan style, and toned up the sweetness.
For Chinese locals, this may be a nice break from other NYC food, but may not quite hit home due to the higher level of sweetness. For me it hit the right spot. Loved the balance it gave, giving actual room for more flavours to kick in outside of just chilli and peppercorns.
The only dish I didn’t particularly enjoy was the rabbit due to its toughness and was a tad too salty for me.

5/5! Everything was excellent. The food was all delicious and prepared fairly quickly, and Ryan service outstanding. He was so knowledgeable, helpful and give great advice. Everything is very clean and the ambience was nice. Highly recommend for authentic, delicious Chinese food!
