The food was fantastic, comforting, and deeply flavorful across the table. The standout dishes for me were the shredded pork, which was perfectly tender with just the right balance of heat and savoriness, and the mapo tofu, rich and numbing with that classic Sichuan mala kick. Lovely dinner. My fav was the pepper beef. Then cucumber salad. Then dim sum. Then the clay pot rice. Wow though, no misses!
Service was very introverted / not proactive, but it was a nice enough place. Ambient but not too loud and not too quiet!

A very close authentic Sichuan restaurant with fragrant flavours.
Personally I’m not a massive fan of Sichuan pepper corns hidden in bites of food, and that’s been my weakness in Sichuan cooking. At Lunar, they’ve definitely toned down the spice and numbness of traditional Sichuan style, and toned up the sweetness.
For Chinese locals, this may be a nice break from other NYC food, but may not quite hit home due to the higher level of...
