OMG...the endless hunt for authentic mapo tofu is finally over. This is legit mapo tofu. We asked for extra spicy and they did not disappoint. So damn good!! Excellent with their purple rice. We also got their mala dry pot with beef tenderloin, lamb, wood ear, enoki, broccoli, and bean curd sheet, with their extra spicy base of 24 spices. This took me back to my study abroad in China. Absolutely 💯 amazing!!! Super flavorful, bold, and truly authentic. Everything was next level. Drinks were good and pair well with the spicy dishes. Service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is cute with their corrugated metal roof ceiling and the exposed brick floor. The haw flakes at the end threw me back to my 90s childhood! Will definitely be coming back for sure! What a treasure! Please don't change. It's hard to find such authentic, truly spicy, quality Sichuan cuisine!

Sure wish I had taken pictures, although they would not have conveyed the amazing flavors of this place. That number, tingly szechuan pepper 🌶 was used perfectly. We ordered spicy and it was! Just how we Luke it. Wish we had a place like this in Dallas because I would be a regular. Service was great, good atmosphere, amazing food! Highly recommend! Provecho

A great Chinese restaurant offering tasty Sichuan cuisine in a relaxed setting. This is a fairly casual restaurant, but they serve some expertly mad dishes. The dry pot is their specialty and it’s deliciously spicy, fragrant, and mouth-numbing from Sichuan peppers - I strongly recommend you try the dry pot, but the marinated pickles and popcorn chicken were excellent too. They have a great happy hour special where food is discounted (our beer was full price), so take advantage of that before 7pm.

Beautiful, minimal interior. The food was fantastic, a range of interesting choices for both meat eaters and non meat eaters alike. Really a wonderful restaurant.

The food was delicious. Not cheap anymore. But considering its location and how big the portions were.. I loved it. The mala peanuts are what keeps me coming back.

$45 for one okay dry pot is pretty rough even for manhattan prices. The taste was alright.

I was around the area and was curious to order food from this place for take out. I asked for recommendations from the server and he recommended dry pot: eye round meat with broccoli (spicy). Amazing 10/10. I love spicy food and it was pretty good and flavorful. Definitely want to dine in next time 😊.

Nothing had been spicy to me for over a year but the dry pot turned my face red, I was tearing up, and my sinuses cleared. I loved it. Beer was good, music was good and service was expedient, would recommend

Mala Project is a great place for anyone looking to have dry pot, with a good selection of ingredients available.
The other food on the menu is very average though, we tried the dumplings and the noodles which were not at all good, the dumplings were cold and did not feel fresh, the noodles also lacked flavour.

First time coming to this establishment, and I must say I was very impressed. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try new cuisine. My server Cody was very attentive and could tell I was nervous. He took his time to explain the menu to me, recommended some tasty options. The restaurant itself has a great ambience, good music and very cozy. I appreciate the different spice levels they have and you can customize the food to your liking. I will definitely be coming back to try other dishes from the menu.

A solid spot for comforting Mala dry pot - the menu is extensive and customizable with plenty of meat and veggie options. I ordered about six items (definitely a bit much for one person) plus a hearty bowl of purple rice. Everything was flavorful with just the right level of spice. Generous portions, great flavors, and an overall satisfying solo dining experience.

The food was delicious and simple. It came out very very fast. We got 2 appetizers, 2 beers and drypot which came out to $120 so a little bit pricey, especially considering the simplicity of the dishes. When we looked at the menu we thought we would need maybe 2 drypot items per person so the price seemed reasonable but the waiter recommended at least 4 per person! He was correct in terms of the amount of food, but it doubled our expected cost. Very delicious but not the affordable meal we anticipated. Great vibes inside
