was quite disappointed overall with my meal here which was unfortunate as this is some of my favorite type of cuisine. the drypot i received was not spicy at all and the potatoes in it were severely undercooked, to the point where they were crunchy when I was eating them. the waiter never came by despite me being one of the only people at the restaurant so I wasn’t able to convey the dissatisfaction. overall i think there are much better dry pot restaurants in the city and queens.

Love this Mala project location! Pulled up last minute with a party of 8 and they were very accommodating. Great food and service. Highly recommend!

We had lunch and ordered two sets of the dry pots. The food tasted okay, but they were both too salty for us. “Dry hot pot” sounds like a novel idea but they were just stir-fries that you could tailor (ie. you could be specific about what goes into your stir-fries). Mild has no hot spice and “extremely spicy” was not too spicy at all, not sichuan’s “too spicy” anyway.

The food was excellent. I ordered my all time favorite, beef noodle soup. Delicious. The place has a raw, kind of industrial look. Kind of cool, however, the place strikes me as dirty. Walls are filthy, paint is chipping, overall a dirty vibe. Totally a turnoff. I am trying to imagine what the kitchen looks like. The waiter couldn’t wait to give us our bill. I will be back for the food…… but….

Went with a friend and ordered their lunch special. We asked to split the bill. However they charged the full amount to both of us. $43 per person is super expensive for lunch special even in midtown. Unfortunately we didn't check the amount before paying and didn't get the receipt, trusting they did the math right. Remember to check the bill before paying.

Highly recommend the Dry Pot! If you haven’t tried, you pick the ingredients you like, and spicy level, then you pair it with a side of steamed rice or fried rice. It’s healthy and flavorful.

Recommend: prawns, shiitake mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, lotus roots, tofu, bean curd tofu, potato noodles, cauliflowers, broccoli.

The dry pot here is definitely the standout, offering a well-balanced, moderately spicy flavor with nuanced seasoning and high-quality ingredients. We also tried the 1000-year egg appetizer but found it lacking - it had a limited quantity of century eggs, and the peppers weren't deseeded which packed considerable heat that might be overpowering for some.

Service is prompt and efficient, and the restaurant has a modern, upscale vibe.

The best Dry Pot I have ever had! This place combines a classy ambiance with affordable prices, making it a standout in the area. The appetizers are insane! We particularly loved the peanuts, but the popcorn chicken and scallion pancakes were out of this world. The dry pot itself is incredibly delicious. However, we noticed that our meat dry pot was significantly spicier than our veggie dry pot, despite both being ordered at the same spice level. Overall, MaLa is a fantastic spot for anyone looking to enjoy amazing flavors at great prices.
