One of two favorite spots to get pho in the city! Fried tofu with scallions is also a must. Great portions for sharing. Amazing team behind the establishment and the best homey atmosphere.

We really enjoyed our experience at Mam! We didn't have reservations but they were able to accommodate us within 10 minutes of our arrival. I know we werr very lucky, but the team seemed incredibly efficient which I am sure was 80% of our luck. ;)
The staff was friendly and helpful in explaining what we were eating and how Vietnamese people typically eat the items. Each dish we had was fabulous in its own way. I particularly enjoyed the eggplant and fried vegetable rolls.
I don't think I have ever had Vietnamese food, but based on my experience at Mam I will plan to sample more.

We actually came here in August 2025 but forgot about this until a picture recently popped up. But the service we received here was horrendous. We got to our reservation like 20 minutes early, they said it’s ok they can seat us they just need the table back at 8 PM. Fine whatever, we get brought to our table in the back of the restaurant which we were happy about at first just because the table was big. We sat there for around 30 minutes without anyone coming back to check on us, no water not even a check in to see if we are ready to order. Another party of two got seated after us and was able to place their order AND get their food before we even placed our order. In the end we literally had to go find them to give our order in and honestly we should’ve just left.

Best service I've had in the city, the staff are so kind and attentive which made it a truly special experience. Service included. Pho was delicious. The vibe feels understated and authentic street food.

Mam captures the energy of Vietnamese street-style dining, with servers carrying big trays packed with dishes and moving swiftly around the room. Service was impressively fast, we had our drinks and food in under 10 minutes. A great experience.

The food is good and worth my trip to New York just for trying it out. The service is just out standing, nice, friendly and really warm welcoming. We were really satisfied and surprised that they refuse to take tips even through they deserve much more than that. We will definitely come back next visit to New York.

I had a very bad experience here while visiting the city in late summer of 2025. I was a little taken back when I saw stools on the dirty streets of nyc, but was still excited for an authentic experience. We ordered our food and went to use the restroom, on the way there I met Jerald who was very inappropriate. I’m not sure if he was intoxicated or what. We didn’t finish all of our food as the meat had a funny taste and made our stomachs turn. We all ended up getting quite sick and therefore had to spend our last night in our hotel room , canceling our plans for that night. I’m all about supporting small business and I’ve held this back, but I feel others should know the risks of dining here.

Overall, it was a great experience: good food and good service. We had to wait in the cold for a while to get a table, but it was definitely worth it. I would come back and would recommend this place to others.

This is the first time I travel to NYC so we decided to try Mam. As a Vietnamese, I would say that the food here are very good and it is 100% similar to Vietnamese cuisine with the friendly staffs smile all the time. I will recommend to every of my friend go to this place.

It’s very difficult to find authentic tasting Viet food in NYC. Mam is the closest, especially in Manhattan. I’ve heard people critique this place for being “too authentic” but this is real Vietnamese food. Like imagine being told your biggest flaw is that you’re “too real” — insane. The food was so authentic, the white dudes next to me were speaking fluent Vietnamese. I loved their Goi Ngheu, which is the raw surf clam, and the Oc (the stuffed snails). I hope this place doesn’t make unnecessary changes. This city desperately needs good Vietnamese food.

The food is very good, but the portion doesn’t make up for it…
Firstly, as a Vietnamese person, I’d find the flavor profile is almost close to the standard back home- the shrimp paste is delicious, the appetisers definitely captured the the playful innovative street food scenery at home (i.e, chicken feet, stuffed snail, etc.).
However, the wait for our Bun Dau Mam Tom tray was very long (~30-40 minutes), so by the time we finished all the small appetisers, we were hungry again and waiting (I understand that there were many ingredients involved, but with such small portion for appetiser + long wait = hungry). Also, the main hero of the tray is the shrimp paste, and yet they gave us a very skimpy amount (we asked to refill it and it was still not enough to dip everything in).
I understand that NYC is a very expensive city to live in (and import is not cheap), so I don’t mind paying a bit more for a meal, but we went in as a group of four and ended up splitting up $40+ per person and were still hungry in the end. I know it’s not fair to compare to the price in Vietnam, but with a portion like this, $20 would be more than enough for the main tray.
Again, I don’t mean to be malicious-the food is indeed very flavourful and creative, and the staff is also very lovely. I just hope that in the future, the restaurant would re-consider the portion size as that can be a huge factor for many people to stop by.

Good but insanely insanely overpriced. Not realistic/reasonable at all. Also total lack of transparency in payments/fees. Avoid/Don't go, but if you have to, make sure you ask to see the bill. Not appreciated at all.

My wife is Vietnamese and this place was on the top our list for restaurants to visit while we’re in NYC. It was recommended by her family who had been here several times as being really authentic food! We really enjoyed our visit. The Northern style Pho had great flavor, and was a nice change from the Southern style Pho we typically get on the West coast (USA). The Nem Chay was also excellent, and the calamansi tea was a highlight and should definitely be ordered if you visit here! My wife was excited to try the Bún đậu mắm tôm (fermented shrimp paste), a dish she’d never had before. The shrimp paste was pretty strong for us (no fault on the restaurant), it’s not a dish for everyone, but it was fun to try. They offer fish sauce as a side if you can’t handle the shrimp paste, which we enjoyed 😂. Overall great experience, very tasty authentic food, would definitely eat here again and recommend to others!
