Food was amazing, super flavorful.
Excellent contemporary Indonesian food! Creative, beautiful and delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant, especially the lobster dumplings, lamb ribs, razor clams and oysters. The fixed menu is an excellent way to experience a variety of dishes. I suggest following the advice of the waiters.
Every dish was delicious! I’ll come back.
This is my third time here and oh my god everything just gets better. Tried their original menu (dumplings are a MUST) but LOOOVED their new Padang-style concept. Tried their Liwetan Feast during Restaurant Week in January & LOVED that too. As an Indonesian, Ma•dé really SERVED all the dishes. Elevated, but surely a fantastic introduction to Indonesian cuisine. And don’t get me started on their desserts. Although the cookies remind me of the ones I had back home as a child, the pandan crepes (dadar gulung) and passionfruit sorbet stole the show. Will definitely be back to try their spring & brunch menu!!! Heard VERY GOOD things on their lamb ribs 🥰
Love the atmosphere, food is always yummy!
TLDR: Extremely overpriced food, unenthusiastic service and tiny portions. None were outstanding for a nearly 100$ pp menu.
Came here for dinner on the weekend, got the prix fixe menu. Was essentially one piece of protein and some “banchan” style “dishes”. Thought the execution on everything was not great and not at all worth the high price point. The flavours were all not unique and dishes felt very done before. The short rib was extremely heavy. Drinks were just okay, but small and filled with ice and lacked complexity besides the extreme lime flavour, which also did not seem to go well with most dishes.
The servers did not seem enthusiastic or knowledgeable. When we got served our food, a few shrimp chips fell to the ground and had no replacement.
Not the best
Bery lovely Indonesian spot. Food was great service was excellent, it's prix fix so no need to think about what to order. Everything is well made and fresh.
One of my favorite restaurants in New York. A must try IMO. I had the best time here. The interior is vibey, their cocktail list is excellent and the food is so creative and well executed. One of my favorite sticky toffee puddings. I will never forget my meal at Ma•de
We had an amazing time! The food was both delicious and unique, our first time trying Padang cuisine, and we’ll definitely be back. The beverages were excellent, and the warm, attentive service made the experience even better. Highly recommended!

This restaurant was such a disappointment. The food is bland and unappetizing. I can't recall a single dish that I would like to eat again. I give this experimental restaurant maximum 6 months from now before it closes its doors.
My boyfriend and I came in for a date night and were excited to try something new while taking advantage of restaurant week. The atmosphere/decor was beautiful.
The food was honestly mediocre, and extremely overpriced for what it was, they get you on the presentation because that was truly the best part of it.
Service, did not match the high prices of the establishment. As mentioned we came for restaurant week and it states clearly on their website it’s from Sunday-Thursday (we went on a Sunday) however our server looked at us like we didn’t know what we were talking about and said “that’s not on weekends”. We didn’t flight it and just ordered from the regular menu. Throughout the night she seemed bothered at any questions we had for her and made us feel uncomfortable to even be there. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.
Such a shame - used to be one of the best raw bars in New York, but completely changed the menu, and 80% of the original menu is gone. You're now forced to order a set menu of assorted meats? Feels like a restaurant that no longer knows what it wants to be, and the food is extremely mid. Felt sick the rest of the night. RIP Ma de.
had a resy over the weekend for a group of 6, did the pre-fixe menu. and then a few things off their signature menu. i loved the chips and the lobster dumplings but overall the food was bland and drinks were just okay. food presentation was nice and a good balance of everything in their menu, but not sure if we would come back here again. service was decent tho!
Terrific food in a cozy setting. Amazing Indonesian flavors paired with great european technique. Had the padang style meal. A great way to sample multiple menu items. Can't wait to go back.
