Cool place, but giving it such a low rating just because of one miserable man behind the bar. I used to come here regularly and play pool, great drinks and amazing staff, but this is the last time I'll be coming here just because of a few encounters with one old bartender. Don't know his name, just know he was there monday night and he's been rude to me on multiple occasions. I pressed no tip after paying last night with the intention of giving him a cash tip only for him to ask me where I was from, and nastily say "they don't tip where you're from?" Again, this was completely uncalled for and extremely rude and it's my last time coming here. I had cash in my back pocket ready to tip him anyway but I shouldn't have. as a food service worker myself, this behavior is kind of appalling. Bartending and food service is hard, and i understand wanting tips, but I don't think being miserable and rude is on the job description and I DEFINITELY don't think that being rude to someone so that they could tip you is acceptable. There's a way to say things, and the way he's spoken to me before is not the way.

Suberb bar , so friendly especially Olivia the super efficient and welcoming bartender, who made the stay in the village a completely positive experience!!
If you ignore the Taylor swift bit 😜

It was the best experience I’ve ever had in my whole god damn life.
Olivia was the best bartender in all of my bar tour experience in New York

Although this was once one of my favorite spots to get a drink before seeing a comedy show, the atmosphere is really hit and miss these days - sometimes it’s a fun crowd, but other times there are only a few loud drunks that make me feel mildly uncomfortable

For an incredibly ugly run-down dive bar, the employees are completely full of themselves. They have one pool table that takes up the majority of the tiny bar and will yell at you if you get near it. Their beer was rancid, it smelled bad, and they pushed their credit card fees onto the customer unlike any other proper business. The vibes are awful. I genuinely think this is hands down the worst bar in all of Manhattan. Whenever I have friends coming into the city looking for bar recommendations, I tell them anywhere BUT the macdougal street ale house.

Divey, on the younger side crowd, not as diverse as I recall it being a few years ago. Nice pool table, darts in the back, security was present after 9pm.

Beware. If you hit 20% for tip using a credit card. You are tipping on tax and credit card fee of 3%.

A dive bar with character and a mixed young crowd. Definitely had fun people watching in here and the service was friendly. Being served a poor Guinness from an Irish man was disappointing though, suspicions were immediately raised when the glass appeared before me 30 seconds after ordering. Too bad because I love a good dive bar!

Declan is the absolute best and I trust that man with my life 10/10.

If you are forced to endure shopping on Broadway and are permitted to "run away" as I did, this is a nice low key place to go. Friendly staff and patrons and a decent selection of beer. Paying with cash is preferred

We came in Thursday at 16:30 during happy hour and ordered two drafted beers. We were charged full price because the bartender didn't inform us that if we paid with our credit card we would be charged full price. That is a pity, because otherwise we would have paid cash (and perhaps drank a second one...)

Cool little place to hangout for a couple of beers.
Pay with cash better.
