Fun times always, but I feel the food can be better! I couldn't eat the grill onions because they leave too much of the outside of the onion! The lamb burger had barely any lamb and had no real memorable flavor. I rather just eat the sausage they make. And there was a hidden charge when I switch Ed from fries to mashed potatoes! Why?!!
The food is always excellent and the staff are very accommodating- but the music can be way too loud for conversation. Also the warm bread they give you on arrival was very over-toasted and just crumbled in our hands (it doesn't usually! ) which made it not fun to eat.
Fun menu, generally well-executed. Definitely worth a visit for dinner, but with the following quibbles: The avocado tartine appetizer was delicious but messy to eat. It's on a baguette, should be something thinner so that it can be cut into bite-sized pieces. Perhaps unavoidably, it was very noisy. There was an active bar scene in the front of the house that tailed off as the night progressed. Probably people stopping by for a drink and a snack. Dining room was nearly full after 7:30, so reserve or go late. Food was very good. I had the pork chop, it came with a delicious white mushroom sauce, mashed potatoes and green beans. I ate the beans first to get them out of the way -- they were fine if you like beans and a very French touch -- and that cleared the deck to enjoy the sauce with the chop and the spuds. I'd go back just for that. There's a wine list with about 20 choices, priced up to $160. For the reds, I strongly suggest they add some older vintages, I don't think any of them were older than 2019, and that's not long enough for most good reds to mature. The thing to do would be find 2-3 vineyards that they could order from every year and store the wines until they're ready. Price points could run from $100-$200 for these. Service was kind and efficient. I went with two colleagues who I worked with in Paris, and they seemed to think it was a good choice.
I always have a great time here and last night did not disappoint. I brought my mother for her birthday and we enjoyed oysters, mini burgers, and the seafood pasta. For dessert, they brought out a chocolate lava cake with a candle and sang happy birthday. We washed it down with a Champagne cocktail with St. Germain. Overall, a great evening
We had a wonderful dinner sitting outside this classic Harlem restaurant. , Fantastic seafood pasta, delicious couscous, and great watermelon salad starter. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed lunch very much BUT $6.00 for a fountain soda is insulting if not abusive. It's water wth syrup!
Very nice waiter.
Nice atmosphere.
Perfect night to sit outside on the deck. Nice bordeaux and the duck confit was also good.
We love Maison Harlem, such a fun summer evening out, and the children enjoyed practicing their French to order their dinner. Great atmosphere and wonderful staff.

There were two of us dining. We had the outstanding and light forestiere crepe (crepe with Swiss cheese and mushrooms inside). We dined there for lunch. Ambiance and service were perfect and prompt.
I eat out a lot.. THIS WAS BY FAR THE BEST EXPERIENCE YET! Kinda of small and modest in appearance but the food, staff and vibe makes up for any short comings. I got an extra drink just so I can stay longer. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
What an awesome place in West Harlem! Duck confit and mussels were excellent and a great wine list.
Maison Harlem is a gem of a bistro in Harlem. The food is great, the menu diverse, the staff is warm and helpful., the setting is very comfortable. Frankly, the only issue that I had on this night (not nearly every time I've been there) is kind of an ironic one. I was meeting a very close friend who is an internationally known jazz musician/bandleader to share dinner and catch up. We were seated in the back. There was a live jazz trio (and they were nice!) playing mid-restaurant. As good as they were and as much as we love the music, it was hard to hear one another. We dealt with it and we had no complaint to make. I point it out as it might have irked someone else. Highly recommend the special watermelon salad and the duck confit. Was delicious.
Took my husband to Maison Harlem for his 85th birthday! I've been there many times before but this was the first time for my husband. It was fabulous- from walking into the very energetic bar scene with such warm welcomes from complete strangers- to our table which amazingly was pretty protected from the bar noise. The food is really wonderful- I almost always get mussels and they never disappoint. The serving was huge and the mussels were plump and delicious. My husband had his favorite cassoulet - which he loved- except the pork belly was very very fatty. But he had started with escargots- a treat he has not had in many years - and they were spot on. Chocolate lava cake for desert was a perfect ending- the entire restaurant sang alone and we felt like we were celebrating with friends!
