As someone from Hawai’i, their Kalua Pig Bowl was surprisingly solid. Only flaw was that it had corn, which does not belong.

The salmon jalapeño roll and the shrimp tempura roll are perfectly delicious. Fairly priced with quick and kind service.

Words feel insufficient when describing their food quality. Workers here are exceptionally accommodating. The establishment embraces local culture. The taste experience here is memorable. Experience the flavors!

Family visits aren't complete without this spot. The team displays uncommon kindness and remembers my preferences. Having just started living here, this restaurant was a welcome discovery. Their portions make sharing a smart option for two people. I've stated all my thoughts.

The poke bowls are a little pricey but they're very good. The tuna tasted fresh, grab salad, and other items were very flavorful. The Kalua Pig Buns were delicious as well. Staff was friendly. Look forward to trying more items in the future.

Really wanted to like this place but the food quality was so poor. Best thing on the menu was the corn 🌽. Nothing about the food Justified for the prices. Not to mention, the owner weirdly tried to sneak an extra 4 dollar charge to my bill , Intel I corrected him. Very disappointed

I first started ordering from Makana back in 2020—desperate times, desperate decisions. Even then, the service was cold, indifferent, and frankly, unpleasant. There’s no sense of hospitality or appreciation for your business. It always felt like I was inconveniencing them just by placing an order. But I was hungry and options were limited, so I let it slide.

That grace ended in 2023 when I was charged $2 for a condiment. Yes, you read that right—two dollars for a sad little container of salty wet seasoning. When I raised the issue, they were completely unbothered. I walked out and swore I was done.

Fast forward to today—a rainy day, a lapse in judgment, and I gave them another shot. Big mistake. They tried to charge me another $2 for sauce, again. When I questioned the price, the cashier conferred with the manager, who came out already defensive and annoyed. Instead of offering an explanation with any semblance of customer care, he launched into a rant about covering the cost of lights, staff, and rent.

Sir, that’s the cost of doing business—not the customer's burden to bear through overpriced condiments.

The entire exchange was off-putting, unnecessarily hostile, and a reminder that Makana has no interest in building community or loyalty—just in squeezing pennies from people who are simply trying to eat.

I won’t be back. And if they do go out of business, it won’t be a mystery—it will be the natural result of their own arrogance, poor customer service, and nickel-and-dime approach to hospitality.

That rude, flat-faced manager won’t see another dollar from me.

I ORDERED THE MAKANA COMBO BOX THAT CAME WITH BEEF RIBS AND KATSU CHICKEN AND THEY GAVE ME DAY OLD FRIED CHICKEN THAT WAS HARD AND DRY AND THE RIBS WITH THE LITTLE BIT OF MEAT ON IT WERE LIKE RUBBER! I PAID OVER 20+ DOLLARS FOR MY FOOD AND IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FRESH. THE MAC SALAD TASTED LIKE IT WAS A WEEK OLD AND THE VEGGIES HAD NO FLAVOR. I WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN. Horrific

Actually I was so enthusiastic about this place until I experienced so much prejudice. At first I thought it was a language barrier until I found out that they're in the HOOD taking with no giveback. I went to pickup a catering order and asked to use the restroom and was told no. Photo to follow. I explained that I'm picking up a major catering order that was up to $700 and I can't use the restroom? I was incredulous. He insisted that I pay $2.00 like all non-customers. To top it off, the restaurant had me wait almost 2 hours to retrieve the order. This restaurant Makana, unfortunately is not the go to for me. That's just for me...

As a Native Hawaiian and pacific islander, I really wanted to like this place. I was sorely disappointed. I have never had chicken katsu that was paper thin. There was hardly anything to chew on. The mac salad was okay. I would not order from them again

Rude. They refused to take my order over the phone when I have ordered that way at least twice before. Take your business elsewhere.

Came in the grab dinner (house fried rice) and all the shrimps had poop in them, and there was no flavor whatsoever. Super disappointing.
