My fave sushi place in the US so far! (I’ve moved here for over a year)
Fresh and yummy!

Go ahead, steal from my credit card if you dare—otherwise, print ‘NY State minimum tip is 18%’ and hang it up so I can sue you.

Low quality fish for a medium price. Catering to tourists who don’t know any better

I’ve been coming to Marumi for years. Right now I’m sitting down to a plate of chicken Katsu, which is excellent.

Have been eating here for many years.
Last night went with a group of 6 and 2 people got sick from eating Sushi Jo.
After eating 3/4 pf their meal we saw tiny worms on the plate.. apparently a roundworm.. can happen when fish is not handled correctly.
Marumi staff was apologetic snd comped the meal.

But damn.. scary. Luckily i do not eat fish myself.

Good quality sushi in a pleasant, unpretentious setting. The sashimi was fresh and tasty.

We like the unadon. Give it a try if you like sweet food.

Parking: Park in NYC is difficult, tickets are on the way. Find indoor garage nearby, although a bit expensive.

Best sushi I've had in NY, which may not seem impressive given I haven't had much sushi here, but I've spent a life having a lot of great sushi in Seattle so my standards are high. I hadn't heard of this place, but we popped in for a late dinner. Great space, very classy interior, just look at that picture, look how shiny and warm the wood looks. Anyway, I had some miso and split the Sushi & Sashimi for two with my dad. Not cheap, but well worth it for the quality, plus they don't skimp on the serving size. The fish was so good. Oh my god. The salmon?? The MACKEREL??? Probably added at least ten years to my life. Exceptional quality, the rolls too, all of it. All the staff were wonderful, they all said goodnight when we left. 10000/10. I'll be dreaming about it until I return.

Kid-friendliness: There were children in there who seemed friendly enough
