The food was delicious, but the staff were very unfriendly and cold. Even though I said I enjoyed the food and thanked them, they looked at me with a sour expression. I don’t understand why.
This spot has become my reliable favorite. Food here strikes the perfect balance, with excellent mouthfeel and inventive preparation. The people working here are quick and careful. The restaurant rarely looks empty. My time there was satisfying.
Matroska is located inside a Russian / Ukrainian bathhouse in the financial district. It is a little hard to find, but worth the required concentration and Google Maps assistance. Go in, wind your way around through doorways and up and down staircases to reach the dining room. Um, ask the receptionist for directions.
